June 20, 2013 by Michael Berkens

Frank Schilling Uniregistry withdrew its 1st new gTLD application for .Marketing

The application had a prioritization number of 826, with ICANN getting ready to release Initial Evaluations for applications with a prioritization number of 801-900, by withdrawing the application tonight Uniregistry saved itself $65,000 the difference between a 70% refund and a 35% refund.

There are two other applications for .marketing one by Tucows and one by Donuts.

Uniregistry applied for 54 new gTLD’s so now they are down to 53.

I reached out to Mr. Schilling on why Uniregistry withdrew its application for .marketing and he told thedomains.com the following:

“Strategic reasons, for the good of registrants and stakeholders in this process.”

Another .Brand application was also withdrawn tonight as the application for .Maybelline was withdrawn by L’Oréal.

L’Oréal which filed for 14 new gTLD’s has now withdrawn 4 of those applications all Brand applications.

With these two applications there is now 83 withdrawn new gTLD applications.
