    Hello MHB,

    Are you Serious Here??

Only village idiots would lend any credence to Estibots totally flawed and professionaly ignored Metrics for Domain Valuations. They are the professional Industries laughing stock .

    Jeff

A surprising amount of people in the industry look at estibot.com as one factor in the valuation of domains, certainly my opinion of it is well known as you would know if you had any memory of any posts we write over here.

Anyway feel free to give you your opinion as to value of the domains as head of the “The Contact group (Mastermind Group) with combined 100 years experience”

i think it was a rather weak list but all rick can do is pick from the names offered up.
i don’t think there’ll be a lot of big ticket sales out of these. thanks for doin’ the work of estiboting (is that a word?) them anyway.

Oh so you agree that Estibot.com is an Industry Joke?

    R. E. = ” Anyway feel free to give you your opinion as to value of the domains as head of the “The Contact group (Mastermind Group) with combined 100 years experience ”

This must be a mis print of what I reall said :

    R. E. = ” The Contact Group is an assemblage of colleagues I have met in my 40 + = years experince in Marketing Analysis which began with Rockefeller I.B.E.C. group where I was head Marketing Analyst Int’lMarkets. The Contact group (Mastermind Group) combined has over 100 years experience. ”

Anyway we have found that DomainMongrel.com offers an equally useless opinion – and in most cases completely different 🙂

  11. Jeff Schneider says

    May 14, 2013 at 12:23 pm

    R. E. = ” Ok so feel free to have the Mastermind Group value this set of domains ”

This is MISSION IMPOSSIBLE even for us.

There are so many hidden Strategic advantages to each and every individual (.COM) Profit Center that Metric Baseline Valuations can never grasp. Hence each property is its own individual Masterpiece, with its own unique Valuation.

The Joke is not on Estibot… the Joke is on the quality of most of the domains on auction at what should be the main event in this industry.

  13. Jeff Schneider says

    May 14, 2013 at 12:46 pm

Perhaps the real joke is the realization by (.COM) Profit Center holders, that at this juncture its just plain stupid to sell your properties.

  14. Stu Holly says

Instead of posting Estibot’s “Appraised Value” , wouldn’t the reserve have been more beneficial to potential buyers/sellers/onlookers ?

  15. Jeff Schneider says

    May 14, 2013 at 12:49 pm

    Hello Stu,

This would have been a more beneficial plug. Glad you brought this up and not me.

    Some nice names in there.

  17. todd says

    May 14, 2013 at 12:54 pm

These numbers are a joke. Divide these prices by between 3-5 and you are much more in the ballpark. Except for names like klaxons.com, $70,000, divide that one by 100. Mike, you should do a poll on what the total price for all the domains will be. 50% of the list with no reserve is going to put the total price of the names sold extremely low. Not even close to the Estibot numbers. Divide the estibot number by 5 and maybe your close.

I reread the analysis you did at http://www.thedomains.com/2012/11/02/marchexs-sales-prove-it-estibot-appraisals-are-worthless/

    That was an award-deserving article.

I mainly use estibot as a filter more than a valuation tool. It is wonderful for that purpose.

Some interesting valuations from Estibot on this list… I suppose we should just wait and see what they actually sell for and then we’ll know for sure how far off Estibot was off mark..

  22. JointVenturefy.com says

    May 14, 2013 at 1:13 pm

    @Berkens

Good job. I trust that you will also publish the reserves/no reserves when it’s available. Looking forward to seeing that.

I’m surprised to learn that there’s something you don’t know 😉

  23. Louise says

    May 14, 2013 at 1:14 pm

What does no reserve mean? Even Moniker no reserve sell for low xxx. There will be a minimum price on no reserve, to cover administration fee. The poll should be, which “no reserve” domain will actually sell?

Does Estibot revise its numbers down when “no reserve” domains don’t sell? Estibot shouldn’t just price domains at their highest sell price.

  24. Jeff Schneider says

    May 14, 2013 at 1:20 pm

Only A-holes put out Guestimate valuations on (Intangible Assets that are only priced at Sale).

Jokers still think (.COM Profit centers are Tangible Assets ) WRONG

    I am really disappointed!

  27. Jeff Schneider says

    May 14, 2013 at 2:06 pm

Thhe Biggest problem we see is most people look at Domains as Tangible assets with baseline Values.

Therefore they think that just like other Tangible assets they will be subject to increasing and decreasing values = WRONG

Art masterpieces for instance have never decreased in value for example.

Most people cannot wrap their minds around One of a kind collectibles values. Too many (.COM ) holders swallow buyers Kool aid and sell for less not more. GET SMART

  28. Alan Mero says

Just curious, why do you subscribe to Estibot’s service if you think it is worthless?

  29. Michael Berkens says

    May 14, 2013 at 2:16 pm

    Alan

Because as I said some in the industry take Estibot it into account in the valuation of domains and therefore I like to check it for myself rather than take someone’s word for it

  30. Jeff Schneider says

    May 14, 2013 at 2:42 pm

    Alan,

Let me give you a capsule history of Estibot.com.

For years now Estibot has taken it on themselves to place Search Engine placements attached to many (.COM Properties ) on the same serach page as the (.COMs ) property listing, in search Engine Hierarchys. Amazing that they have not had their asses sued off with this practice? You may ask why?

Because onyour domain names search page, often one click away from your search page location they have placed an arbitrary valuation for your domains value. This practice has dogged Domainers for a long time and in many cases has suppressed Domains percieved values.

    Bastardos, to put it lightly

THAT SAID, I would pay real good money to someone that could make me a Jeff Schneider internet filter.

I have seen this done before where the total Estibot value is within 20% of the total of all sale prices. Granted there were a number of domains where Estibot was waaaaay off , but the too low canceled the too high. That is where Estibot works best, as an average of a number of sales. This should be a better test than Marchex.

I totally agree it should not be a final guide, but as a filter you are hedging the probability that automated appraisals (and thereby objective criteria) will become more popular in the future.

I had a guy try to use an Estibot appraisal to knock 2/3 off my price on an LLLL.com. I wrote back that I had discussed with the site owner how LLLLs needed special treatment. I got the sale.

ok dont talk about it, put your money where your mouth is and buy them, at least one of them

BUT you wont because nearly all of them cant be used for a business and on there own are dont profit centres
