September 12, 2011 by Michael Berkens

Congrats goes out to MobileWallet.net who just posted the 50,000th published comment on TheDomains.com.

The blog was first launched in December 2008.

For the record to date there have been 3,176 published posts and for those who think we allow way too many comments to get through, there have been well over 220,000 comments either rejected as spam or deleted.

Thanks to all the readers for the support and in reaching this milestone.

Congratulations on this huge achievement! 🙂

So far the biggest blog I own has only 3500 quality comments on it, so this 50k mark is far away from my reach

experiment1: disable comments for a week. then measure traffic.

experiment2: limit comments for a week. then measure traffic. e.g., limit how much text visitors can post or limit the total comments on each thread. or maybe even disallow posting url’s.

hypothesis: having a very open comment system attracts more visitors than having a no comments policy or a limited comments policy.

speculation: thedomains has more traffic than other domain blogs because it has a very open comments policy (and easy to use comments settings).

imo, you deserve the traffic mhb. it takes a high degree of tolerance to allow 50k blog comments.

    What

Not to mention the over 220K comment not allowed.

    “high degree of tolerance”

tolerance is a virtue in democracy, not a blame
