gFLip.net Enters Website/Domain Marketplace As The “World’s First Completely Free Marketplace”

September 3, 2011 by Michael Berkens

According to a press release, A new website marketplace launched yesterday  called gFlip.net.

gFlip promises to allow their users to list and sell there websites completely free of charge.

“Marketplaces like Flippa charge sellers listing fees and success fees, gFlip has eliminated all these fees making there services completely free of charge.”

“gFlip is the worlds first completely free website marketplace which connects buyers and sellers from all around the world who are interested in buying or selling websites.”

This means that you can now list your website on gFlip totally free, and they don’t charge success fees, which are the fees charged when a property sells successfully on a website marketplace.

gFlip is now the world’s first completely free website marketplace.”

So this is an interesting one in a field dominated for domain sales by Sedo.com, Afternic.com and  Namejet.com and for websites Flippa.com

Others in the field include Aftermarket.com and Bido.com

At the end of the day sellers need buyers and want the highest price for their domain,  while buyers typically don’t pay fees.

I;m not sure what the business model of working for free is but I guess we will find out.

Just to note another party owns the domain name gFlip.com

This site may destroy some of the bigger website marketplaces but they need to start getting people listing there websites.

They are getting good press release and traffic so people listing there websites for sale at gFlip shouldn’t have a problem selling them.

Looks like a nice site BUT no inventory? Not even a single domain name for sale? If your going to go thru that much trouble building/promoting a site atleast have something of interest to look at. Guess they are waiting for someone else to get the site going.

They should buy the first domain listed, odds are that it sounds better then gflip, lol.

it’s not the first site of this kind, there is also an italian site (with an english section) that allow to sell websites and domains at zero costs (and where I offer some of my domains on sale, but, unfortunately, this domains marketplace it’s not mine)

Apparently it isn’t free. You have to buy “Credits” to list an auction. Don’t know how much they cost, navigation isn’t the friendliest.

As most people know, Adam Dicker offers a semi free transaction service.
    ShowcaseManager,com offers free transaction cost.
However, you have to pay a minor annual fee.
Which is far less than continuously paying 15-20-30% commission to the other guys.

It just started. So, I’m not sure of the track record.

At least you have a well known and respected person compared to a newbie.

I recently noticed that Sedo went from 10 to 15% commission.
With a 50% increase in commission, what add’l benefit did I receive?

Problem with so many auction sites are the buyers. Most of them got less buyers and more sellers. And some of these auction sites allow TM domains to be sold. Ex flippa.com

  18. [][] only domains with a meaning [][] says

if the owner of the TM doesn’t want a domain, it’s a “public domain” domain, while, if he wants it, may have it for free and the owner of the TM domain lose the money paid to buy it

Also, we currently have 3 advertisement campaigns at a budget of $2500. We are trying our best to get more people to join and list there websites as well as get buyers to join so we can equalize the market. Please remember this is mainly a free service and we are doing our best with the advertising.

    Hello MHB,

Im not in this venture to make profit but to create a marketplace for buyers & sellers. Flippa charges $20 to list your website and on top of that they charge a success fee. After my first sale on Flippa I was completely annoyed by all these fees. So, i decided to create a free marketplace. I will make money from selling my own websites just like the other users.

    Thanks

  46. hostlocal says

    September 3, 2011 at 7:10 pm

when google started earlier in the decade they didn’t have a business model.[1] they just had an idea about how to do something differently (and in their opinion, better). that “something” was how to order search listings by “relevance”.

[1] email service, aka googlemail, aka gmail, and later ads in email, soon extended to ads in search results, came later, from a new employee. it provided an answer to the inevitable question: what’s your business model? but that answer didn’t exist in the beginning.

maybe the most important thing is traffic (popularity). then comes business model.

maybe marco had an itch (fees on auction sites) and just decided to scratch it. maybe not. whatever the case, this is just an example of how easy it is to “move the free line”.
