Sedo.com just released its sales list for the week ending Monday August 1st. All reportable domain sales totalled $923,725. The top seller of the week was Grid.com at $275,000 followed by Namibia.de at €30,000.
Elliot’s Blog reported on the Grid.com sale yesterday, noting it was a domain registered in 1992 and resolving to a Godaddy landing page. In the past the domain had resolved to various “Under Constructions” pages.
Namibia is a country in south west Africa which was originally colonized by Germany.

I realize this isn’t the exact same week of data as AfternicDLS, but does it trouble anyone else about Sedo that minus their top sale, they are running $100k behind Afternic in sales with millions more domains listed in their marketplace?
Our sales activity has held strong at AfternicDLS but had gone down at Sedo due to their horrendous site redesign a couple years back. Hopefully their recent site changes improve the buyer experience there and get them back to as strong as they should be.
Nice sale for Grid.com. The name has a nice ring to it. I thought “okbooks.com” for $900 was kind of funny. “Yes, we sell books, and they’re ok.” At least there could be some honesty in that slogan, which is a refreshing change from all the hyped-up claims out there.
@BullS, what is “tons of traffic” for a site with a PageRank of 1, and an Alexa ranking of 4 million? Just curious.

I also found an interesting observation that someone else has noticed. And this is the nth time this is happening.
I found another interesting case of a company preferring .co over .com even when they own both. I typed “site:.co san diego” into google and found a maid service at maidsexpress.co. I tried adding the ‘m’ and the .com redirected back to the .co. Interestingly, they are also using the .co in their contact email.

Steve: the lists that we send out for publishing are never based on Sedo’s complete sales record, in fact we only publish a small sub-set of our sales. A lot of Sedo clients opt to not get their sales published and Sedo only sends a selection of sales to our press contacts.
Afternic mainly sells their own inventory and has therefore no trouble to publish almost every sale… So, it’s not an apples to apples comparison and we are therefore not troubled… 😉
