Aerospace.com Sells For $160,000 On Namejet.com

July 23, 2011 by Michael Berkens

The auction for the domain name Aeropace.com which we wrote about the other day closed today with a winning bid of $160,200

The reseserve on the domain was $80,000

There were two bidders over that amount which drove the price all the way you to $160,000 making it the largest sales on NameJet.com I believe this year.

If you want to see what a huge industry AeroSpace really is check out this article just for starters.

Congrats to the 10 people who voted that this domain would be the highest domain sale of NameJet.com super premium domain auctions, so far your in the lead.

the NYT article regards a new.space company while aerospace . com can be better used for an aerospace magazine

The owner of this name was DN and he bought this from Ireit for around 50K.

    Great buy and congrats!

Hi, From the article, i think may be a shuttleride or spaceshuttleride may be a better name. Aerospace is indeed a gem of a name but probably used for aero magazines or airplane related portal. just my opinion. Thanks. Jess

    @DN –
You just never know – I do not think one person who spends time in the auctions did not think a “halvarez”‘s relative was in there.

It is just a good reminder to bid on stuff your business model needs – not just stuff!!!

Looks to me like a classic case of a name appearing/sounding great – but, actually one of those terms that have minimal commercial value & relatively few options…

For me, $160k was vastly overpriced for this domain….Great sale for DN, the vendor

You are all missing the big point here, all the generic domains that are selling lately are commanding high prices businesses are waking up to the true value of generic domains so 160,000 is not overpriced but a reasonable price.
As these generic dot coms get bought up the price is only bound to increase rarity is an excellent driver of price, right now a lot of business types are probably waiting for the next wave of tld’s thinking why buy a dot com when i can have dot whatever, well get ready for a long wait and even the possibility of the owner keeping the dot whatever register to themselves or paying a very high premium for it when it does become available. People always remember dot com these other new kids on the block are not even here yet let alone selling domains so enjoy the wait i will stick with cctlds and dot com.

    I agree with Patrick.

Just like in real estate, buy prime real estate during a recession at depressed prices. Your peers will say you are nuts.

And, the same people 2 yrs later will tell everyone how brilliant you are.

It’s nice to see domain squatting has circumvented the spirit of ICANN and has become big business. Ridiculous.
