Missed The Backorder Deadline For Warez.com? Don’t Worry It’s A Public Auction So You Can Still Bid

July 9, 2011 by Michael Berkens

Namejet.com has elected to make the auction for the domain name Warez.com a public one.

Typically to participate in a NameJet.com domain auction you have to backorder the domain by a certain date and time, typically 11pm EST.

However and maybe as a sign of things to come for its “Premium” domain name auctions, Namejet.com has made the auction for warez.com,  a public auction,  meaning that even if you didn’t backorder the domain by the deadline which was yesterday at 11pm EST, you can still bid in the auction.

As of time of publication there are 405 bidders in the auction and the high bid is $4,700.

@joe – I will touch it with my “ten foot pole” – upto low 5 digits

Who is putting all these names like gocart, aerospace, polygamy, houserentals, trumpet, countryside ?

Not with a 100 foot pole. For starters this domain could never be parked. The links on the landing page would be trouble alone.

What could anyone possible do with this domain?

Ok that was dumb, warez could be used for plenty perfectly legal things and you know the domain has to have a lot of traffic at least. Too bad the traffic isn’t looking for whatever legal thing you may be selling. Even regardless of how ceative you could be with it, like Brad said, it would be playing with fire.

    @BrianWick,
I’m pretty sure I remember seeing many of these repeated a few time in some of Rick Latona’s live auctions and newsletters of the past. I may be wrong.

Not to be confused with Juárez.
I still think it has value including for gringos that cannot spell

Too much domaintools info makes me not think correctly but something tells me a few of these are from/via the iREIT iFALLOUT – or maybe even a few from the MarchEx portfolio:

Here are the most brandable ones I am going to follow so far:
    Businesswear.com
    Aerospace.com
    AloeVera.com
    Countryside.com
    FoodGuide.com
    HouseRentals.com
    Copy.com
GoCarts.com – seems like this one is always in auction
    FirstAvenue.com

Polygamy.com – outside of adult what is this used for ? – maybe a new housing development ?

Wow people still use the phrase “Warez” ? Haven’t seen that word since the late 1990’s. Weird.

Good news. But I don’t want this one.

    It ended at $47,000.

47k makes no sense – but then again the 4100 i paid yesterday for RacingResults.com makes no sense either – but I wanted it and was bidding against a bidder I am not familiar. Obviously somebody felt Warez.com was worth that kind of money

Not surprising but still a surprise lol
