NameCheap.com Says It Now Has Over 2 Million Domains Under Management

June 23, 2011 by Michael Berkens

According to a press release by the company, NameCheap.com an ICANN accredited registrar says they now have broken the 2 Million mark in domain names under management.

“Reaching 2 million domains is an incredible milestone for us,” Richard Kirkendall, CEO of Namecheap said. “We’re a service-oriented business that prides itself on providing the best deals with a support team that strives to make each and every customer happy. This goal reinforces our position in the marketplace as a customer-centric domain name powerhouse.”

Namecheap ran a special transfer promotion that included a charity donation to Save the Elephants several months ago,  which helped Namecheap get more than 20,000 new domains in its management. ”

“To celebrate the 2 millionth domain, Namecheap awarded the user whose purchase consisted of the 2 millionth domain 10 times the total order amount”

    Worth mentioning:
They are ICANN accredited, but do only administrate 124 domains in that role:
    http://www.webhosting.info/registrars/reports/total_domains/NAMECHEAP.COM

Thats most likely the reason for using the proper “domain names under management”, since they act in the role as subregistrar to ENOM for client domains.

Nothing wrong with that, registrars can use the accreditations, symbols and logotypes for different reasons..just sayin..and I have used namecheap.com in the past and will do so in the future aswell.

Hmmm, a prize, er, credit of only 10 times the total order amount to celebrate the 2 millionth domain? With a maximum limit of $2000 to protect themselves from those all-too-common customers who regularly place orders of more than $200? Namecheap seems to be living up to its name. 😉

Even if it’s an unintended error like a typo? I take it you tried to work it out with NameCheap and no go?

A registrar on paper but in truth an Enom reseller. Let’s call a spade a spade.

Good on them though. Out of Enom’s 10million domains, 2 million are with NameCheap….quite a pie

Registrar or enom reseller? More the latter than the former! 10X the bill? A guy registers the 2 millionth domain and gets what like $100 bucks? Thats a biggie. Try google namecheap sucks or namecheap scams.
Does namecheap rollover on their customers when domain complaints come in? If memory serves me they do. They are doing some really great stuff with their domain names though http://domains.adrforum.com/domains/decisions/1340802.htm
