March 22, 2011 by Michael Berkens

The domain name Pad.com is going on the auction block in just a few days at Bido.com

The domain Pad.com has an original creation date of December 5th 1990 making it over 20 years old.

The domain is operated as Pad Business Solutions.

According to the owner,  the domain receives 300 visitors a day.

The domain has an Alexa ranking of 3M, and a Compete shows 1,700 visitors a month.

The auction starts on March 26, 3:30 pm and runs for 4 days

When the auction starts the reserve will be set at $90,000.

If you want to But it now or bid or follow the auction click here

Nice name but I doubt if it will sell there as Bido does not attract the type of customer
that Sedo would. You have to ask why he didn’t list it with a Great Domain auction.

Why not pick up PAD.CO also ?

This is a great domain with what I think is a very fair reserve and a reasonable BIN. Hopefully Bido will advertise this auction a little more than the occasional tweet once the auction starts. There has been a flurry of pre-bidding activity up to this point, but there is no way to to know about the seriousness of any of these bids.

It would be a great step for Bido if they can successfully sell Pad.com!

first of all I don’t have access to the owner, and second of all I assume Bido has a contract with the owner and I wouldn’t want to interfere in that relationship

    the news is actually………..
bido finally list a premium domain for sale, lol

bido is the last place i would list a domain like this, full of lowball domainers

Obviously, Bido has had some difficulty in the past in trying to find a niche that suits their business model, but I must say – they are, in my opinion, a solid group of people trying to do honest business. I’ve bought and sold a few names on Bido and their system worked seamlessly – and most importantly, I got paid on time every time I sold a domain. I think their overall system still needs a few tweaks (better IE Compatibility for example), but has alot of potential.

I had an issue with a couple of listings of mine a few months ago, called Bido, got the owner on the phone (Sahar?) and he sent an email to someone and got the listing problem fixed ASAP.

Good luck to the seller of Pad.com, it’s an awesome domain and the sale will bring a small company some much needed recognition in the domaining biz.

This is a good case study for Larry Strickling at NTIA for: Why we need a Sub-One-Dollar .COM Registry.

How can anyone trust DNS Registry Operators that do not have fixed fees based on a competitive bid with the U.S. Government ?

I like Bido, but I just don’t get the whole submitting a domain, than the verification process, followed by the voting, followed by the listing (or let’s try to squeeze a few bucks for votes) process, followed by the ad nauseam…

Truthfully it’s a pain in the ass, and I could see if it resulted in a stellar lineup of domains, but it’s so inconsistent as to hardly be worth the effort.

Pad is a good name, but what do you do with it? sell tampons? stationary, possibly electronic devices. Tablet(s) is a much better name, but it’s already taken. A very nice site (Tablets) I might ad.

Yup great to see a brilliant name like this on bido. In the UK this domain also has great significance as “pad” refers to someones home.
I’ve been a big fan of bido since launch and was disappointed to see them stture then close up shop (twice I believe over the last few yrs)
I dont use ie to use the platform, I use opera and it works seamlessly. I believe chrome is the optimum browser but I refuse to use “more google” mainly as for every surfer like me who shuns google they (google ) lose a tiny bit more of their monopoly.
Anyhow I believe Bido will thrive in time, how long that will take pass. I believe they will step it up so much so that I have a featured auction with them starting april 9th with names already loaded such as Toni.com / See.net / DataMines.com / CarBrakes.com / Position.org

Ok only time will tell if we sell any but we’re more than happy to give it a shot.

Bido has been doing advertisement on Google Search as well. They have been doing better than before. More sales.

    BTW,
anyone remotely considering buying that domain (Pad) and using it to promote or sell
electronic devices or anything else for that matter better do their due diligence instead of
talking out of their hat. Just this morning (for those that don’t read the news) the WSJ reported that Apple filed a lawsuit last Friday against Amazon for using the term “app store” to “describe its new app store for Google Android phones.” How generic is that?

So how far do you think you will get with anything Pad?

  16. lol says

    March 22, 2011 at 1:14 pm

‘pad’ is slang for property in the uk,
‘got a great new pad’ means got a great new flat or house
    developed that way is fine
although you never know with the scum at wipo

  17. Dean says

    March 22, 2011 at 1:28 pm

Unless your Amazon, Google or maybe a handful of other business entities worldwide, you stand a snowball’s chance in hell of winning a WIPO against Apple. I don’t care in what capacity you use that name.

Nice name but more than $35k-$50k is too much. For starters the traffic is so bloody low even with it being a misspell of ipad. Secondly your market is small even for flats or people searching them as a pad, that and you’d have to hawk ladies unmentionables if the flats dont work out lol

Decent name but not that good. There is more to valuating a domain tha wishes and fishes.

Josh, you sound like you want to be a bidder.

If they went after pad,com – it would be a clear case of
    reverse hijacking.

The domain is a ‘natural’ for a real estate service in UK.
