    And they gave it away…

    inversion.com
    i n v e s t m e n t

from the spanish speaking market perspective a xxx xxx Euros domain name any day of the week.

A “Pata Negra” per se ….fed only with wild acorns.

Many unreported sales for 2009/2010 upwards of xxx,xxx same market.

why a (without sense) domain name like “asasa.com” has a value of (and has been sold for) $12,500 while, a (much clear and usable) name like MyAdCenter.com isn’t?

  6. Josh says

You cannot compare non english domain keywords with their english counter parts. Especially when the word also has a weak english use and verges on undesired or low level keyword. I think all things considered ( like potential targeted spanish investment traffic lol btw ) it got too much at $37k.

I log in my Afteric account on a daily basis and NEVER I see any Auctions taking place…………….These Sales are in my opinion a pure fabrication of their so called domain names sale activities network.

I dont believe these Fictitious sales and the previous ones have ever taken place at Afteric.

are you saying that Aftenic has never sold a domain?

  9. DSeller says

    February 2, 2011 at 11:14 am

Iโ€™ve been using Afternic for the past few months and am selling a couple names per month with them โ€“ more than I sold through anybody else. They have been very easy to work with. They gave me a few recommendations like pricing my names and putting a for sale link on my page when I park with Afternic.

@Bfitz The membership was free at their site and I just listed my names.

@ Alex The names definitely sell and have sold them at really good prices. My names have sold through a partner (I can tell because the whois information changed) or through one of their sales reps not through an auction.

Inversion.com was a nice sale for the seller.

aSea.net sold for nearly $7,000? Must be an end user sale.

I tried to add Advances.com to afternic lastnight, turns out the reserve needs to be $25k or less, never bothered looking into why or what Id have to pay for, ridiculous if you ask me.

btw Advances.com reserve was going to be $48k. Inversion.com at $37k isn’t what Id call a steal lol

I agree with domo sapiens here.

    Investment.com went once for $900K

Still, the seller is probably happy and the buyer got for the price of a car one of the most valuable keywords in one of the worlds foremost languages.

The website for Inversion.com is already set up. It seems to be a soon to come game.

Such a valuable financial keyword and a game development company buys it. Strange…

  19. domo sapiens says

    February 3, 2011 at 9:09 am

The seller didn’t know what he had… and most likely the buyer also didn’t quite comprehend.
You need to “know your domain” , it is the case for many domains/words that share greek or latin roots , the meaning, usage and significance can change dramatically from language to language as they evolve even today.
    And this also creates opportunity…

“Such a valuable financial keyword and a game development company buys it. Strange..”

Strange, whats strange is because it is a financial word in another language y’all think its valuable. What the highest and best use would be is not dictated by what we think, it’s dictated by what the visitors think and clearly its worth more being used as a game name than a spanish financial word that no spanish speakers visit. Not sure why this is so difficult to grasp, who’s to say the seller didnt know exactly what he had, a good spanish keyword with no spanish financial traffic.

“Strange, whats strange is because it is a financial word in another language yโ€™all think its valuable.”

Another language? What do you mean by “another language”? For me as german speaker English is “another language” and for 1 billion chinese English is “another language”.

Let me remind you of the fact, that there is more people (and countries) whose mother language is spanish than there is with english as mother language. Correct me on this if I am wrong.

Is .com an english or a global extension?

  24. Hotlink Domains says

    February 3, 2011 at 4:42 pm

Aniol what term are you referring to?

  25. Josh says

    February 3, 2011 at 4:49 pm

@Aniol, unfortuantely even if 110% correct with your numbers you still cannot deny the facts. English is king in .com, end of story. Not saying very large trades in other languages or extensions don’t happen ( they do ) but in this specific case it was imo NOT a reasonable assumption to say the name sold too cheap because the english word was expensive. The bloody name has to have that targeted traffic. If 100 spanish speakers visited inversion looking for financial help each day, great, just not the case.

Dont make this about anyone thinking their language is superior, it’s not about that, its about common sense.

  26. Aniol says

    February 3, 2011 at 5:02 pm

    @Hotlink Domains

I was referring to Josh talking about Inversion.com

  27. Hotlink Domains says

    February 3, 2011 at 5:22 pm

Oh I see. Ok. I did not realize that “inversion” was “investment” in spanish. Cool. I own “vivirmessenger.com” which is “livemessenger.com” and get around 60,000 uniques a month direct navigation traffic, so I understand how certain non-english word combos can be quite valuable. All that traffic is from Mexico.
