It doesn’t suprise me at all , the trend is there…at the enduser level ( medium size and up) there has been an obvious “flight to quality” back to fundamentals (aside marks) …. back to domains that potentially could represent a viable commercial project namely “product and services” or info info info , keyword searches…exact or not.
And this is opposite to what I see at the domainer level… there is so much “new uneducated money” coming to the Industry , eg : The large majority of the .co IMNSHO are/were money down the drain…
as long as the pot doesn’t dry this “new domainer” trend will probably continue …
till the next new thing…will it be .xxx?

MHB: I appreciate the compilation of domain news and articles you present whether new or semi-old… let them bark (it’s a good sign)

Yes the next new thing will be .xxx, I certainly don’t see .So making much of an impact.

Although .Co does have some plans to auction off some premium registry reserved domains.

Hope my domain will fetch this much – eventually. It does show how mad the web has become!

It’s a popular keyword for people searching for discount codes, and will have had a site on it previously with a lot of backlinks – domain age is always a factor in Google rankings too. Keeping hold of domains is always a winner.
