A Domainer Hits The Top 10 Highest Grossing Apple App List, As Adam Matuzich Hits Gold With “The Situation”

October 17, 2010 by Michael Berkens

Someone who has been involved in the domain industry has made it on to the top ten top grossing Apps in the Apple Store.

You probably know Adam Matuzich who has consulted with my company for almost 10 years as he has been to many shows and is attendance at TRAFFIC South Beach this week

Adam has done everything from developing our sites, to handling all technical aspects of TheDomains.com, to maintaining all of our 73,00o domains.

Recently Adam Matuzich created and published the App for the MTV reality star Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino, who of course stars in The Jersey Shore.

Just a few weeks ago the $5 app was in the top 10 grossing App in the Apple store.

Of course since then The Situation was voted off Dancing With The Stars and the App, although still selling well has fallen out of the top 10.

During the process of creating and promoting the App, Adam has received publicity that most of us can only dream about.

“The Situation” App was covered by CNN, CBS news, The Insider, Perez Hilton, just to name a few of the hundreds of media outlets and sites to cover the story. (just Google it)

Of course we couldn’t be prouder of Adam and it’s great to see someone from the domain industry  hit it big in the App world.

Mike, what kind of consulting does he do for domainers?

Plus, how to get hold of him? Website etc?

Confused a bit… he OWNS the app/rights or was hired to build it only? The popularity of the app is not based on the builder but rather the ” situation ” , no pun intended.

Big congrats to Adam and we will make sure we put his ass to work now and get him to tell us all about it on one of the panels this week.

I’ll make sure it is an afternoon session. 😉

LOL – What a strange, strange society we live in. Are people that enamored with the mundane?

    Josh

Adam is a part owner of the App as well as the developer.

My understanding is that Adam is the one who came up with the concept and contacted Mr. Sorrentino who agreed to partner with Adam on it

I am a domainer too and I own MobileApps.com. Site launching soon and hope that it can give enough coverage to the domaining industry just as what Adam has done. Wish me luck!

Looks like he also got a job at Apple out of the deal:

    via Yahoo Finance:

“It’s done extremely well, and we believe it will continue to do so,” Apple’s Adam Matuzich told The Hollywood Reporter.

“What does the developed App do ?”

“According to THR, a rep for Apple said the application, available for $4.99, soared to the top ten list and gives users access to locate “GTL” (Gym, Tan, Laundry) facilities, offers a workout routine aimed to get beach-worthy abs and has a “grenade” dodging video game. The features are directly inspired by phrases and experiences made famous by The Situation and the cast of MTV’s “Jersey Shore.” Users can also email the “Dancing with the Stars” contestant directly via the app.”
