Now The Chinese Have Even Learned How To Sell Domains From Rick Schwartz

October 10, 2010 by Michael Berkens

I saw this story today and although I can’t prove it, the owners of the domain certainly have gone to the Rick Schwartz school on how to sell a and price a domain.

If you haven’t read Rick’s 2 part series on “How to Sell a Domain”, then you have missed some of the best advice your ever going to get.

I honestly can’t believe the guy is giving away million dollars information for free.

If you have read his posts you can read them here, and here.

Now back to the China connection.

One of the Beijing’s top nightclubs was ordered to close for six months on May 14.

The club’s website is now blank with the exception of a brief note saying:

“This domain name is now on sale for a price it deserves.”

“Don’t bother if you are not rich.”

Rick couldn’t have said it any better.

If you have trouble getting the Global Times site to load, here’s a link to Google’s cache of the article:

And this is the domain in question:

    bjtsrjyzh.com

    Not kidding.

The domain being bjtsrjyzh.com, I think they still have a bit to learn from Rick…

But did they say it in Chinese?

Mike, it is quite the opposite, Chinese are way ahead of us, we should learn how to sell domains from them – take a look at http://www.4.cn

Our way of selling domains are old, obsolete, outdated, … have you look at the results of domain auctions lately?

Their way of selling domain are secure, effective and let the buyers dictate the domain value

Um.. in Chinese it actually means:

    YouAre BuyingPigeonS**.com

btw- even rich people are stingy at times.

I have also seen brokers use the same tactics as Rick mentioned too, but sometimes the situation & background /culture require a different approach.

someday the .cn TLD will surely overcome the .com’s number and selling prices

    bjtsrjyzh.com?

finding a rich person that could pronounce it correctly is worth more in my opinion
finding a matching acronym that makes sense would be interesting also

might get drunk and let my fingers go crazy and make a million

    Congratulations to Rick Schwartz

It appears that hands down that Rick Schwartz has outperformed

Bob Parsons (so far) this year, in Brainy Internet self promoting events..

I hereby nominate Rick Schwartz for the coveted (the IE )

Internet Entrepreneur of the year award ๐Ÿ™‚

P.S. Bob you can still catch up, there is still time!

what will happen if a chinese company will buy GoDaddy?

Chinese is written vertically in columns going from top to bottom and ordered from
right to left, with each new column starting to the left of the preceding one.

So your “Domain Manager” might have some changes,
but i heard that you would get a FREE fortune cookie with each purchase
that would accurately predict the FUTURE “Auction Price” of your Domain Name ๐Ÿ™‚

I was amused by this post, thanks. But that’s a pretty mild statement really. But I don’t understand this trend towards rudeness and unprofessionalism (my opinion).

Someone confidant and successful should have no reason to be crude, rude, and unprofessional. Of course, so people developed in that kind of environment or later on had life experiences that caused them to start acting that way out of self defence, but striving to be professional keeps you in line.

Anyway, just today I got some spam with an attitude:

“… We also give International Loans, do International Debt Buy Back, We are REAL ESTATE INVESTORS and can lease out Bank Instruments to qualified clients.

NOTE, Time wasters are not authorized to respond to this inquiry.

    Mr. Fred Wesson, President
    KROEGER PACIFIC INC., USA.”

Clearly another graduate of “Rick U” ๐Ÿ™‚

I actually agree with Ricks disdain for tire kickers, but I totally disagree with his general philosophy that it’s best to be a dick on the leading edge of a negotiation.

Well he has so many, lets call them sales tactics that you can pick and choose which ones you want to incorporate in your strategy.

In any event you will have to admit many people spent a lot of money to attend sales seminars and Rick’s giving everyone his for free.

why do people come to Rick to buy domains? pretty easy answer
‘to make a heap of cash’ seeing he has the key that unlocks their ideas and make them money.

he asserts the upperhand straight off the bat and if they dont like it they can leave or simply say NO…..but they only see cash so they submit to his will and thats a good strategy seeing business isnt ‘hold hands and play nice’, its about getting the best deal within all legal boundries in the shortest possible time.

why do people come to Rick to buy domains?
    —

LOL. A bit of a logic; fail ya got going there.
People don’t “come to Rick to buy domains” by virtue of Rick being Rick. People come to domains that Rick happens to own. No one is saying he doesn’t have a great portfolio.

corrected and valid response…..they do come to the domain
