Adult Domain Auction Starts With Some Of The Best Adult Domains On The Planet

September 23, 2010 by Michael Berkens 19 Comments

The Webmaster Access GFY/HuntingMoon Domain Auction Powered by Moniker/SnapNames has just started.

The auction features over 400 domain names which are mostly adult in nature including some of the best possible adult domains on the planet but which also includes domains with double meanings (could be adult or not adult) and domains which are clearly not adult.

WARNING:  THE LIST OF DOMAINS BELOW INCLUDE WORDS ARE VERY GRAPHIC IN NATURE, DO NOT READ ANY FURTHER IF YOU ARE NOT AT LEAST 18 YEARS OLD OR OFFENDED BY SUCH MATERIAL.

The auction ends on September 30th 2010 at 3:15Pm EST in accordance with SnapNames.com normal closing procedures.

This auction is online only and the prices are not stated in ranges this time,  but with a minimum first bid and those are the prices contained below

Some domains in the auction include:

Tits.com with a minimum bid of $3,000,000 tops the auction (pun intended)

Anal.com is priced at just under $1.2 million

Sex.Co.Uk is priced with an opening bid of $750K

Fetishes.com is at $100K

Cunts.com is at $50K

WetDream.com is at $37,500

GiantTits.com is at $35K

Fingerfuck.com is at $15K

Then there are some domains that could be adult terms but also non-adult depending on use such as:

Celebs.com (adult site or gossip TMZ type site) for $500K

Facial.com (which could be adult or a beauty product) is at $125K

LiveShow.com for $75K

Footlong.com (can be adult or a domain for subway) for $25K

There are some non-adult domains in the auction as well, which seems a waste as they are out of place and might be missed by those turned off by adult

Some of those include:

Vampires.com for $477K

Gothic.com for $250K

Rented.com $43,500

Werewolves.com for $34K

Controversy.com for $28K

Bfo.com $21K

Don.net for $28K

Also Hell.com makes a return appearance for just over $1.5 Million and a typo LasVagas.com is at $250K

There are some interesting adult and non-adult domains in the auction and the auction will be lightly promoted do to its content so you may find a bargain.

Pretty standard example of why ‘hold forever’ is not a good operating strategy. Every one of these names would’ve brought a mint years ago. Now, not so much…
These asking prices are akin to people trying to get out of mania-priced houses in 2008 and 2009, ignoring the fact that things had changed and not understanding why their property wasn’t selling.

Down markets (which the adult market most definitely is) are funny; whenever they arise, a stream of idiots appear out of the woodwork, ready to sell for last years peak prices… It takes time to wash them out and the ones who don’t know how to mitigate loss will ride the sinking ship straight to wherever the bottom lies… but yeah, it’s amusing to watch…

Even those are great adult names, I would have to see all the “free adult” sites (not that I would know:-) are really killing the industry. As a “category” adult is getting killed.

Overpriced Snapnames auction once again, they only move 1% of their inventory, it is shameful.

I disagree with you LS Morgan. I don’t think these domains would have sold for much more in the old days, and definitely not a “mint”.

Chris – Just a clarification and correction on your comment – this is not a Snapnames/Moniker auction, this is a HuntingMoon Webmaster Access auction using our platform, similar to what Epik and many others have done. Although some of our customers submitted domains through us, the majority of these were selected by the auction sponsor and host and we support their efforts and hope it is successful. We have certainly had very successful auctions in this industry segment in the past – selling the most valuable names in the adult category.

Also not sure where you are getting your sales percentage either, but our sell through percentages as well as our average sale prices as a whole (combining live, extended, expired and showcase auctions), are better than any other company in our space.

Lets not forget that we are still in an industry that is in its infancy and not quite that liquid yet. I would suggest that we are still pushing the envelope in many areas to help grow the industry and professionalize it. Some names and auctions perform better than others, some are still growing in concept and structure. I think you will see a lot of positive outcomes and progress over the next 12 – 18 months in these auction segment types, so stay tunned.

Sure, some will make a killing. Generally speaking, though, porn content has become like salt. Once upon a time, its price was higher than gold… Now, it’s virtually unlimited and getting damn hard to get people to pay for it. Even the subscription sites that offer fresh niche content are getting crushed between torrents and free sites pirating their content. This will only get worse as consuming patterns shift towards younger people who are savvy enough to avoid using credit cards to get porn.

Had a chance to get in the tech/marketing side of adult in the mid 00’s, kinda glad I didn’t bother.

with the advent of google instant would anyone end up doing a search for “sex” ? sex and the city and sexting perhaps but sex in the classic adult search sense is prob dead.

WOW! Some of those domains are pretty pricey! I wonder if the .xxx extension will generate amounts similar to these – If most of these well know adult named sites have a reputable .com – I start to wonder if they will even bother acquiring a .xxx extension

ICANN is the PBS of the Internet – Do you see PBS with the .NFL ?

Head on out to .VEGAS for “the Retreat” and CES AV shows
you will see how .XXX is being deployed – without ICANN
