That is a lot of money for a .DK domain that shows minimal traffic. Looking at similar sales about 10X-20X what I would have expected.

    OnlineCasino.se – $32K – 2010
    OnlineCasino.co.uk – $165,000 – 2009
    OnlineCasino.net – $49,999 – 2007 (Great buy IMO)
    OnlineCasino.eu – $46,748 – 2006

    From the articles –

“The website also has reported about 3,512,704 visitors a month and it is said to be the top generic domain name in the Nordic countries.”

That traffic stat is clearly wrong.

Alexa shows a traffic rank of 3M+ with 2 backlinks.

There are only 828 results for the domain Google, most referring to the sale.

Either this is more to this sale, or the buyer got ripped off big time.

They obviously have some big plans for it. Who would have thought cookinggames.com would go for $350000? The canadian who bought it already had an online empire and already had big plans for the name when he bought it. I would say this is the same scenario here.

This is a portal to 4 large .com casinos with descent Alexa and players. It seems it is a collaborative effort geared toward potential new online casino players in Denmark and secondly Greece and Bulgaria. How much time would it take 4 casinos to make up $500,000? Not long…get 1000 new players who spend $500 each on average. There are 25,000,000 people in those 3 countries. So I think this .dk works for the market target.

Interesting that all 4 casino domain names are in escrow. Maybe was a package deal?!

Well casinos always make plenty money by the minute if they can just people to come and play there. So guess they figured this domain will help get people in the door. Easy to market in Denmark.

What makes you think others got a fair price?? How much is a casino referral, $50 – $100?

From stats it looks like there is not much direct navigation on this name.

This is a .DK. Find me any .DK that sold for anywhere near this price. This is certainly not in the top tier of terms, not even in the top tier for gambling terms alone.

I don’t follow .DK, but NameBio.com shows 6 total sales for the extension. The highest is $1,532

A domain like Poker.ca just sold for $400K. Far better term, far better extension.

This price does not make sense unless there is something else involved in the sale.

This domain business keeps getting interesting every day and it is also Konfusing to comprehend.

Anyway, back to the basics– repeat after me- all websites are……BS

Hard to say whether someone in Denmark would consider .ca more important or attractive than .dk. A lot of “in country” business, in Germany for example, is done using their own preferred extension. One can only speculate what’s behind that deal.

    This continues the cctld trend.

do you know the name of the “Gaming company based in Malta” that has bought the domain?

I would not value a domain based on it’s alexa rank, if you search for online casino at google dk they are among the first results out of millions so most of their traffic comes from search engines.

The real value on this sale comes from the number of players already signed up and depositing every month, this is not a domain sale it’s more like a business sale which includes domain, website, players and revenue accounts.
