I learned that both Stuart Lawley from the ICM Registry, who got tentative approval for .XXX last week and none other than Bob Parsons from Godaddy.com will be on the same program tonight on the Fox Business Channel at 8PM EST.

They both will appearing separately on a newΒ  program called “Money Rocks”

Fox Business Channel can be seen on channel 359 on Directv and I assume many cable networks throughout the country.

It should be interesting, not to be missed television on domain name night on Fox Business.

Someone post the YouTube.com link when they find it.

Of all the interesting and newsworthy events which have occurred in the domain world, this gets prime time. Why .xxx and why now?

    Answer: Controversy.

Maybe Parson’s is going to put all the “unedited” godaddy commercials at godaddy.xxx

    Jon

Beyond Domains, Directv is one of the best things you can get in the US

Surprisingly, Parsons didn’t particularly rally around .xxx. In fact, he said he wasn’t sure GoDaddy would choose to sell it. When asked to elaborate, he said he was not sure it would be worth “the heat” in relation to public sentiment against it.

Later, he expressed his amusement (which I did enjoy) that Obama might “flip the internet kill switch for up to 4 months”. Actually, wouldn’t disconnecting the net destroy several billion in internet commerce/revenue, rapidly escalate job losses, and lead to more unemployment benefits we can ill afford? πŸ™‚

    Interesting take by Parsons

Certainly with Godaddy.com controlling over 50% of all new TLD domain registrations, their failure to offer the extension would hurt the growth of .XXX beyond the pure domainer/adult community.

However its hard to believe it would be too controversial for a company that typical spends hundreds of thousands of dollars on ads just to get them rejected by the network carrying the Superbowl because they are seen as too controversial.

seems like Parsons is coyly vying for “palm grease” from the ICM registry

.xxx is a portfolio novelty – making it better than all ther rest is the useless, worthless and non-brandable non-.coms

And outside of a few thousand pure relevant term .xxx (which have already been “spoken for”) – it will get lost is the vast wasteland of all the other worthless non-.coms in a year – but if the registrars can soak the utterly naive into a 1-2 years reservation – hey that is their business .

Parsons wont turn down a buck off the ill advised .xxx hype – he will be selling to the naive – just like the others.
