Three live domain name auctions in less than a week netted over $1.5 Million in sales from RickLatona.com TRAFFIC auction, the no/low reserve DomainFest auction and the Premier DomainFest auction, now its time to weight in on what you thought was the best buy.

I made some suggestions on the right where you can vote for your favorite or comment below.

The best buy was Guns.com at $1mm. I’m suprised frank didn’t pick it up.

I don’t think anything that sold was a good buy. Possibly loancalculator.com depending on the PPC revenue.

Chances are none of the domains were bought by end users so they were all over priced.

The NRA or the anti gun groups would love to have that domain name guns.com

    $49,000 Dietfood.com
    $41,000 CatFood.com
    $5,000 PostalCodes.com
    $600 CardExpert.com
    $12,000 SpamGuard.com
    $1,250 SmallCashLoans.com
    $4,500 XmasToys.com

    These are good buys IMHO.

    MotorcycleHelmets.com $35k ($100-$500 products)

    Overpriced picks:
golflessons.com $65k (large audience but limited online sales potential. too localized)

I wonder how many domains will actually be sold/transferred to new owners.

Snowboardingequipment.com @ $500 – somebody call the police! And Steve didn’t even use a gun or mask! Sold a couple of years back for almost 4K!

I think these three were the best deals:

    1) LoanCalculator.com

    2) Dating.org

    3) SpamGuard.com

Oh and of course SnowboardingEquipment.com which was a great buy for Steve – who is an awesome guy so deserves it!

I would just like to say that my first TRAFFIC experience was a great one. For somebody who is relatively new to this industry all I can say is thanks to all of those who where willing to speak with me and give me advice. For those of you I did not meet or get to spend time speaking with my apologies. However, it gives me a good reason to get to another conference soon.

With respect to the names on the list I would say Pearlearrings.com and Motorcyclehelmets.com are pretty solid pickups These are both category defining names with products that have high margins. If the buyers are looking to build businesses on them I would think that they will have no problem re-couping the cost of the name in short order. For a pure domainer looking to flip they may not agree with me. But for somebody looking to develop a niche business these are gold.

I personally picked up a name at the TRAFFIC auction that I like, but I have a business I can plug straight into it. The name I almost wanted to purchase on a whim was isupplies.com, I think Rick Schwartz may have bought it (I could be mistaken). I am not a big fan of the iXXX.com name but I have a feeling this one will sell down the road for a nice multiple. I just didn’t have the balls to pull the trigger, maybe next time.

Thanks again everyone, this industry has great people and is just an its infancy. Tremendous opportunities lay ahead even for those joining the game “LATE”!

    Cheers.

    PK

    @ Morgan

Thanks, you’re pretty awesome yourself, great meeting you.

    I’ll stay in touch.

@ Mike – great seeing you and your wife again….see you soon

@Troy Guns.com didn’t sell, it was offered at 1mm but highest bid, if it was a real bidder and not a feeler was 600K. Maybe someone who was in LA can verify if there was indeed a bidder in at that price.

Regarding Guns.com I think there were a couple of bidders but since the domain was listed with a reserve of $1M-$1.5M and they started with bids at $500K, I don’t know if they were meaningful.

    Pat

Yes the ones I listed in the poll were my favorite

Look likes their online system is bugging I tried from several computers and many times to bid with my free ticket and it only present me with the watcher interface. Worst when I ask to become bidder, it says there are no live auctions now!?

I’m glad to see PearlEarrings.com, MotorcylcleHelmets.com and TabletComputer.com sell for so high.

All the names on the vote list, if dropping on Namejet tomorrow, would go high x,xxx range or less. All IMHO.

CatFood.com, IMO the best buy for sure.

Nobody talks about, but Windsurfers.com has lot’s of potential as well.

    Thanks, Jim

For some people, buying a domain can be a very stressful process. First, you have to look for available domain names. This is the most difficult part because almost all competitive domains are already taken
