The Schedule for The DomainFest Structured Networking Sessions Is Released: Look At Who You Will Be Able To Chat With

January 12, 2010 by Michael Berkens

There are a few new features at the DomainFest.com conference in a couple of weeks but for me the new morning structured networking sessions seem the most exciting.

Last year a couple of these were tried but they were schduled at the end of a busy day.

This year the structured networking sessions will be held each morning between 9:00am-10:30am.

The  sessions are designed to allow free-flowing discussions around a specified topic with some of the leaders in the domain industry talking about the topics they know the most about.

Check out the sessions and the tremendous people from the domain industry you will be able to chat with:

Wednesday, January 27

Corner #1: Domain Names and Legal Issues

Legal experts will share their thoughts and answer your questions on the latest developments on domain names and the law. Participate in discussions on how to avoid trademark infringement claims and what best practices should be followed in our industry today. Get updated on the latest rulings and share information on how to defend against bogus cybersquatting allegations or how to fight back against reverse domain name hijackers. The moderator will be Todd Greene. The experts include Steve Atlee, John Berryhill, Will Delgado and Paul Keating.

Corner #2: Buying and Selling Domain Names

Successful industry professionals will discuss various domain buying and selling strategies and tactics. Learn about the qualitative and quantitative factors to consider and how to estimate a domain’s value. Ask the experts for their opinion on your personal internet real estate (i.e. domain name) investment strategies. The moderator will be Craig Snyder. The experts include Michael Berkens, Monte Cahn, Larry Fischer, Ari Goldberger and Kathy Nielson.

Thursday, January 28

Corner #1: SEO/SEM and Domain Names

SEO, SEM, static content, user-generated content, leveraging social networks… the list of what to include in your website development and growth plans goes on and on. Ask the experts for their opinion on what works and what doesn’t so that you can focus your time and resources on what will have the greatest impact on traffic and conversions. The moderator will be Ryan Berryman. The experts include Bruce Clay, Dan Ho, Richard Jalchandra, Bruce Marler, Reed Shelly, Melodie Tao and Dorian Quispe.

Corner #2: Website Development Tips

Join domain development experts to discuss build-out strategies, monetization options, and how to prioritize usage of your resources. You’ll walk away with tips, advice, and best practices to help ensure the success of your next build-out project. The moderator will be Ron Sheridan. The experts include Michael and David Castello, Brian Gilbert, Rick Waters and Howard Wyner.

Corner #3: New End-User Markets for Domain Names

Which TLDs are best positioned to reach new end-user markets? Our international group of experts will offer opinions and predictions that could help shape your future domain investment and/or build-out strategies and priorities. Ask them about ccTLDs, IDNs, and in general which TLDs are best positioned to reach corporate end-users versus consumer end-users, and more. The moderator will be Joerg Schnermann. The experts include Edmon Chung, Gregg McNair, Lori Anne Wardi and Nico Zeifang.

Personally I’m looking forward to the panel I’m on with some people I really like and respect, so excited that I in fact agreed to be in the hall at 9am on my wife’s birthday to do it.

Too much info in one day.

How there is time for orgy in the hot stub to relax the brain.

“”….I’m looking forward to the panel I’m on with some people….””

Gotta say, that with only 2 corners one day, and 3 the next, this is what I’m hoping this doesn’t turn into….a ‘panel’ discussion session!!

One of the nice things about the (4) corner networking ‘groups’ that were done last year at DF, was that they were intimate settings with no more than 15 (at the most) peeps gathered at once to listen, ask about, and exchange ideas with the ‘experts’. Being ‘up-close and personal’, with both the experts and the peeps and their queries, was so more so engaging and informative! So many were able to glean more insightful answers and responses. The info and advice I was able to discuss and exchange with JB and his partner was invaluable to me! However now with only 2-3 settings, and hundreds of attendees ‘ready-to-go’ in the morning, seems like these could end up as crowded ‘mini-sessions’ where the (multitude?) gathered peeps will be just praying someone knows how to actually use a microphone!! I hope not.

Either way, I look forward to hearing your advice Mike.

I’m hoping for an informal corner discussion myself, however not sure about the format either at this point
