GoogleGoogleGoogleGoogle.com Site is Up & Running & Asking For Contributions

November 26, 2009 by Michael Berkens

Yes someone actually has a site up and running on the domain, GoogleGoogleGoogleGoogle.com, or as they call it Goog4.

What is the site, its just the Google search box broken into 4 squares so you could perform mulitple Google searches without switching windows or tabs in your broswer.

Cool idea.

Problem is it isn’t Google doing it.

The domain was just registered a few months ago and the site “authors” are asking for users to support the site to the tune of $5.

“””We’re trying hard to make this a cool, free service. We are commited to keeping this service ad free, but if you support the idea and would like to help keep this site going, five bucks never hurts.””

Right.

I wonder if Google is going to contribute $5?

Its not like the webmaster of the site is unaware of any legal issues as they have a FAQ for “legal stuff” which says:

“”We’re chill…. GoogleGoogleGoogleGoogle and its creators are not resposible (there spelling not ours) for any damages, costs, liabilities, broken things, friendships, or dirty thoughts that you might incur while using our service. We are not affiliated with Google, inc. Although if they want to be affiliated with us we’d totally like, send them emails and stuff about it.””

How long do you think these guys have before Google files suit?

The site would never rank anyway. Double worded domains are seen as domain spam and this is a quadruple spam domain!

Also it is just as easy to open a new tab and search in a FULL SIZE window

The site has also got pagerank 4! I wonder if they’ll get a PR10 if they increase to Goog10? 😉

I have a double-worded (generic) domain and site, and it ranks first in its category (with quotes) and third or fourth without.

But the Goog4 dudes are looking at a huge legal problem and lots of headaches.

Neat idea. And they seem to have maanaged to attract plenty of people already (check alexa and compete for details).

I doubt that google will sue. WIPO possibly, but even there I am not sure. Google still makes the full revenue of the domain.

    Snick

I don’t think that Google can allow anyone to just use their name and services.

and maybe .me .in as well and handcode your site
    – pure hand coding — no WSIWGs and please put at least 3 different FORCED pop-ups and browser snaggers on index page…

im not sure if google can really sue them because the google sit is just kinda like a homepage for the windows when they pop up. Im sure they could code it to bring up any other website if they wanted to. The only reason they might get sued id because of the name.
