Someone today is going to spend over $25,000 in pure typo domains.
How do I know?
They are all backordered at NameJet.com today at $69 per.
In all around 370 domains and over $25,000 in fees.
Almost no company is spared in this infringement fest.
Google, Jet Blue, Royal Caribbean, Hersey’s, Yellowbook, Alltel, T Mobile, Adobe, Auto Traders, Countrywide, Cadillac, CareerBuilder, Chevron, Continental Airlines, even Berkshire Hathaway and file sharing service LimeWire.
The list goes on and on.
$25K in typos in this day and age?
Really?
Looks like most of these domains have been registered since 2005 at WEB COMMERCE COMMUNICATIONS LIMITED DBA WEBNIC.CC
So they either stopped monetizing or someone is cleaning up their portfolio.
However it looks like someone is very willing to take on all this liability and to pay for the privilege of doing so.
For those who will say” hey Mike you just alerted a ton of people to these domains which mean there will be even more backorders for them”, the backorder deadline just passed at 12 pm today when this post was published.
So all that is left now is to wait a few days and see who the proud owner of all these gems is or at least where they are trying to park them.

For $25,000, I’d rather have RestaurantSupply.com or ToasterOven.com.
shane says
You can make a lot of money selling illegal drugs as well but I have morals…..well some morals.
Bandor says
“Almost no company is spared in this infringement fest.”
Apart from NameJet and their partner registrars, they’re the ones making all the money selling off TM names over and over again in broad daylight !
Crazy !
Hank Alvarez says
I now work for Namejet and this is the work of my new bot. I am hoping to make it to VP level real soon. Feel free to place your bid so we can increase the revenue for my new company 🙂
MHB says
Bandor
Just to be clear these domains are freely dropping domains, not tied to any drop service.
Namejet.com just makes it easy to see what domains are being backordered but any of the drop services could catch these including Snapnames.com and pool.com as well any anyone running their own script.
You probably could assume that the person who backordered these domains on NameJet.com also backordered them on the other services.
Spankit says
Another of our “Industry Leaders” not leading by good example, these domains should not make it to an auction house drop list, by doing so they are promoting it as acceptable and making huge profits from it.
Auction houses and registrars should be held more accountable and set a better example for the industry.
Duane says
This is not just looking for trouble!
It’s more like a suicide attempt. Some people are just freaking nuts and it is just realy hard to believe that there are still so many out there with no clue how this system works.
Bad for them and really bad for us!
GFY says
This is why no one outside the industry has no respect for the industry. Why don’t the auction houses step up and say we will will not participate. CADNA should go after all of them whatever it takes to stop this ridiculous cybersquatting.
Cindy says
We need to start calling these guys out. Instead of the whack-a-mole game we need whack-a-squatter game where we start snuffing these guys out.
My PPC earnings suck…….and these squatters are not helping. There is more of them then there is of us, sadly.
Especially when surfers are going to brands and get a parked page you can see why sentiment is against us. No wonder the whole world hates us generic domainers….. and it is getting worse daily. The whole industry blows at this point and we have failed miserably at bringing it out of the sewers.
MHB says
Cindy
Well like I said in a few days we should be able to see or a least get a good indication of who this guy or company is that is getting all of these domains and what company is parking them
Greg says
Not all of those are typos/trademarks. But I would bet that the majority will be purchased by the same entity.
Robbie says
it’s a numbers game..
By the time they get caught with one or two , they already made ten fold…
All the get it’s a slap in the hand…
The Bomb will explode the day they go after the parking companies too
(They also profit bigif not more than the domainer )
just do a quick search at sedo for : microso goog Disne etc etc
then arrange by traffic stats
MHB says
Robbie
Yes except when you build a collection like this guy is doing almost 400 domain just today your setting yourself up for a possible onlinenic case with a multimillion dollar judgment. Dont’ forget the $100K per domain penalty.
I went ahead and spent $59 to get contemporaryfurniturestore.com off the drop today.
Bet you that name will be worth more than all of the ones this guy just dropped 25 large on today in 5 years
Christopher Hofman, European Domain Centre says
The problem here is that a legal case at WIPO has a cost of min USD 1.500,-. The prices are exorbitant. As all these domains assumedly have been re-registered in bad faith then surely the different brands can get their legal expenses covered by these guys
Spankit says
“This is why no one outside the industry has no respect for the industry.”
Correct GFY
1) The Registrars allow auction houses to resell it then collect their share of the profit.
2) The auction houses puts it front of potential buyers, then sells it for a big profit.
3) The parking companies allows parking it and then collects the majority of PPC from it.
4) Some domainers buy and sell TM names on domain forums which encourages other domainers to do the same.
If the domain industry expects to be respected then why not deal with these 4 issues ?
If we don’t start cleaning up then someone else will step up and do it for us.
Bob says
You just made the job a little easier for those asshats at CitizenHawk.
Matt says
I’m going to say something, and people should take it as advice based on tons of research.
Typos MAKE this industry. Without it, this industry would have 1/4 the power. And as typos go away throughout the next few years, the industry will be experiencing 1/4 that power. This is just the beginning of the end when it comes to the power the industry has.
Remember, money talks. When research shows that 77% of the industry is made up of typo revenue (I estimate 90%+) – yes it may give advertisers a bad impressions, people may not respect domainers, may even give you the chills.
But if you think you revenue is going to go up if the industry would be generics-only, then you are dreaming. I stand behind generic domainers, and rather not have anything to do with typos. But the reality is, because of typos, all parking companies have much better deals, and the traffic actually does convert well unlike what some would think.
The battle is not against typos in this industry. The battle is not to create mini sites. This industry needs to wake up and stop being domainers, and start being business people.
The industry’s biggest obstacle right now is still quality of traffic and fraud. Rest assured, it is not typos that are draining your revenue, rather they are helping.
