3 Three Letter .Com’s To Drop Sunday

October 17, 2009 by Michael Berkens

Its pretty rare to see a three letter .com drop on any given day, but on Sunday,  it appears there are 3,  three letter .com going to drop.

Even more rare, it looks like each of the three domains are going to be “freely dropped” domains, meaning no one drop service will have an automatic lock on them even though they seem to be all registered at Network Solutions.

Normally Network Solutions domains are pre-released to NameJet.com, but these look like they are going to drop on a first come first served basis.

Therefore, theoretically anyone in the right place at the right time can come away with one of these 4 figured gems.

The domains of course can be back ordered at any of you favorite back order services including NameJet.com, Snapnames.com, and Pool.com

The services all have a deadline to backorder of noon EST.

If you want to back order them through Snapnames you can just click on the link.

Of course if any of these services get any of  the domains, expect bidding to reach the 4 figures for any of them.

MCU.com

WDY.com

ICZ.com

There are also a few three letter .net dropping tomorrow might as well throw those in as well:

JTW.net

Wdy.net

Ecz.net

Qso.net

Best of luck to all

Would a Back Order guarantee that you pickup the domain names at the time of the drop?

    DN

A back order would guarantee you would be in the auction if that service picked it up.

It goes to auction if 2 or more people back order a domain and that drop service gets it.

Since this is a freely dropping domain it maybe caught by one of those service but it may be caught by another registrar.

I don’t get it. When I do a whois on these, they all show Status: pendingDelete, but all 3 also show expiration dates in the future. Can someone explain that to me?

All the three letter .com .net domains were renewed,so they can’t be delete.

a quick whois seems to show most have been renewed

I believe once it says “pending delete” it can’t be stopped by the registrar. A registry can do whatever they want.

A registrar can delete a domain even if it has a renewal date in the future.

Some of the possible reasons –
    Fraudulent renewal payment.
    Domain owner request.
    Incorrect whois.
    Clerical error by registrar.
    UDRP order.
    and more.

    I don’t know about the 3 domains.

  8. MHB says

    Domain

Also sometime the registrar itself just “renews” the domain internally but I agree once it hits pending delete you can no longer renew the domain or redeem the domain, these should drop

  9. Domain Investor says

    October 18, 2009 at 10:57 am

A registrar receives a refund of an automatic renewal payment if the domain is pushed into the delete cycle within 45 days of payment.

I don’t believe these met that requirement.

Since, the 3 domains are with Netsol, why didn’t they go thru Namejet where they would profit from the deletion?
There is more to this story that we don’t know.

  10. Domain Investor says

    October 18, 2009 at 11:08 am

Incidently, this was suppose to be the correct cycle of deletion until the registrars figured out that they could “grossly” profit from the expiration of domains.

Now, when a registrar auction offs a domain, their return on investment is off the charts. The only cost is the $ 7. renewal fee.
Multiple that gross profit by 100’s a day, 365 days a year.

Pool, Snapnames, Moniker, Network Solutions, Enom, Tucows, Godaddy, Dotster, etc are making millions from auctioning off something they really don’t own 35-40 days before the auction.

“””Pool, Snapnames, Moniker, Network Solutions, Enom, Tucows, Godaddy, Dotster, etc are making millions from auctioning off something they really don’t own 35-40 days before the auction.””

They have been doing this for years, and we have been writing about it for the 2 years we have been blogging.

Its because ICANN has refused to issue any uniform rules or regulations to mandate how expired domains should be handled and now believe that the money registrars make off of expired domains are part of the “secret sauce” that keeps them very profitable.
