LFA.com: NBA.Org At Aucton at Godaddy.com

October 13, 2009 by Michael Berkens

Two very good three letter domain names are listed at auction at Godaddy.com

LFA.com is at auction and already is over $5K with over 9 days to go.

NBA.org is also at auction with just over 2 days to go the current high bid is $2K.

Obviously the winner of that auction is going to have to put the domain in use to a non-basketball related site.  There are of course thousands of other organizations and companies that could legitimately use those three letters but the new owner is going to have to be very vigilant that no infringing use of the domain is made or even non-use based on some recent UDRP’s.

I like the domain NBA.org, but “NBA” is not a trademark ?

    Arbel

NBA is trademarked but that doesn’t mean that they are automatically entitled to all extensions of every domain.

NBA can stand for thousands of other things and lets say you owned a business call natural baskets of America and wanted to have a site under nba.org selling flower and gift baskets, the NBA basketball league would have a very hard time getting that away from you.

I understand… So if i want to develop this domain to be a basketball fans site, I need to take in consideration a typo Case from the “NBA”, Right ?

Buy dot com buy dot com…

So why bother with other extensions.

If everyone just buy dot com, then dot com will rise in value.
