$300K Coming Into The Market To Buy .Ae Domains?

According to a press release from today, a Dubai based company, “Unicapital Middle East”, has  $300,000 allocated for domain name purchases.

The company is allocating another $700K for project development and promotion.

It has just launched a portal for the region at 99.ae.

It is not clear from the press release if the $300K is going to be spent on .Ae domains or on top level TLD’s but the rest of the press release goes on to talk about all the investment opportunities  the exist in the UAE so this could be a big boost for that extension.

    They don’t seem to be that interested in .com domains…yet !

    I would also be careful about registering .ae domains for resale, did you see this recent article ?

    “The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA), which oversees the .ae domain, said it will take action against anyone found registering domain names with the sole intention to sell them on for a profit.”

    Maybe they will look into some solid .com investments. Like established domains and sites with traffic, pagerank, etc. Gaz, have you thought of advertising a domain on 999.ae ?

    Really crazy people! Better to invest this money in something else like Ferrari or Lamborghini 🙂
