We know that cloud computing is one of the big new technology topics.
So its interesting to note that today, SYS-CON Events announced that the domain name Cloud.com will be auctioned during the upcoming Cloud Computing Expo, March 30 – April 1, 2009, which will be held at the Roosevelt Hotel in New York City.
Here is more info on the conference:
Cloud Computing Conference & Expo 2009 East.
No reserve price was announced, but certainly a six figure domain.

Cloud computing will take off in 2 yrs time
I know cos I am in the cloud computing environment.
Wow, if the big boys like Google, Microsoft, IBM, HP, Dell, Cisco are interested in this, it could match toys.com.
Microsoft has azuz , dell has a good one
cloudcomputing and rackspace has cloudhosting
I could be the biggest reseller of cloudhosting in the world!!!

BullShitWebsites dot com
Man..I love domains!!
Have to agree with Tony of this…perhaps not as high as Toys but a potential 7 firgure name if the right players are in.
Amazon would salivate over this as well.
Dell owns CloudComputing.com
I happen to have:
buycloud.com
localcloud.com
zipcloud.com
Can i auction these?
I went with cloudnetworks.com some time back. I hope I catch a deal even on a low hanging cloud some day. Cloud.com – very nice for a Brand. CloudComputing.com very nice for Information. Which would you rather own? I like the Brand.
I think the big boys are too smart to gun for a name like this. This name seems kind of stupid beside it’s really great branding power, which they don’t need, unlike a small tech company. Are people typing in cloud.com for cloud computing? I doubt it. Contrarily, I think they would be smart to go for a name like CloudComputing.com, but obviously one already has. Just doesn’t translate as well as something like BabyToys.com & KidsToys.com would to Toys.com.
