Microsoft Cancels Seinfeld

Those horrible ads with Bill Gate and Seinfeld are apparently no more.

Phrase 2 of the ad campaign which was to be announced tomorrow, will instead announce the campaign is over.

What the purpose of the ads is still a mystery and certainly highlights, against Apples ads, that Microsoft no longer “gets it”.

I’ve always hated Seinfeld. He’s a very over-rated comedian. These ads were boring and an insult to my intelligence.

A real head-scratcher of an ad, that’s for sure.

Didn’t know what they were doing; or what he/they were trying to sell; until the end…and with no reasons give to buy MS products or services.

Worse than a waste of money.

ps I’m with you, Newman. Seinfeld’s overrated.

Seinfeld (the comedian) is not funny. Or maybe I just can’t see the humor. And the ads were horrible, I agree. On the other hand, I find the show “Seinfeld” really funny, probably b/c of all the characters besides Seinfeld. The funny thing is, I didn’t consider the show funny when I was living in California — but once I moved to the east coast, I found the show to be very entertaining.

    What’s wrong with me? LOL.

I always thought Seinfeld hated Newman.

Its not so much that Seinfeld was bad, the greater lunacy was thinking Gates could (a) act, (b) be funny, (c) comb his hair properly, or (d) compete with Apple “coolness”. MS is far more lost than I would have thought before.

You wonder if MS just created the mediocre and confusing ads to get people talking about them again.

I’m sure their Get a Mac knockoff ads will also be mediocre but at least better than the Seinfeld ads. Maybe they started off by setting the bar low so the 2nd round would look like an improvement?

The ads were quite genius IMO. They left you thinking about what you just watched…Maybe a little too much though. Its ashame to see them go. They always left me waiting to see what would happen next with Gates and Seinfeld.

Marketing a product doesnt mean you actually have to discuss anything about the product. Just look at the ‘Mohave’ commercials. They are boring just watching so-called real people using the browser for the 1st time. These Gates/Seinfeld commercials were great.

“They always left me waiting to see what would happen next with Gates and Seinfeld.” Not sure there is a person on the planet that Gates puts on the edge of their seat in breathless anticipation of his next daring move.

    Wow what a start… from http://www.9to5mac.com/microsoft-ads-made-on-a-mac

“Computerworld is reporting that Microsoft’s new ad campaign, ‘I’m a PC’ was made using a Mac… Four of the images that Microsoft made available on its PressPass site today display the designation “Adobe Photoshop C3 Macintosh” when their file properties are examined”

You can’t make this stuff up.
