Add Sedo.com to the list of domain auctions held during the TRAFFIC New York show.

However,  this auction isn’t going to be held at the show but online.

The online auction announce today by Sedo.com, starts on September 18th and ends on September 25th, the same day the live Moniker auction is held at the TRAFFIC conference.

With several other auctions already slated for the conference is it wise for Sedo.com to add another?

With may of the worlds top domainers attending the New York show and remote bidding available for those not in attendance, it seems to be a bad time to close another auction.

Some of the domains scheduled to be auctioned off through GreatDomains.com include:

Fly.com, Planet.com, Brews.com, Bicycle.com, and Address.net.

Your thoughts?

Like allways bidders will only bid the last hours, plus the number of names auctioned is very limited.
So the auction shouldn’t really overlap the TRAFFIC auctions.
If my memory doesn’t fail, it’s not the first time they have a GreatDomain auction during a conference where a live auction is scheduled.

I think it will be one of those things you will have to wait and judge the outcome after the fact. It’s a bold move … and I can certainly see justification for and against.

At the end of the day, if the focus was on attracting end users to these auctions we would not need to have this discussion. There would be so many buyers it wouldn’t matter how many domains were up for auction.
Remember, at any given time there are hundreds of thousands of domains for sale (and at auction) on all kinds of platforms. We need to move forward as an industry working towards reaching these buyers.

Hopefully, TRAFFIC, Sedo, Afternic etc… will be the leaders in this effort. They are making commissions on sales of these domains, and just like any other commission based industry, it is their responsibility to bring the buyer to the table.

I also think that it is time that the sales reps start brokering some deals. Perhaps some training is necessary. I don’t know. Does anybody else feel the same way?

I think their auctions always end around this time of the month, and I wouldn’t expect them to move it just for TRAFFIC. I think they’re also having an “end of auction” party at their booth.

Let’s see sedo in action – listing less domain names is much better than listing 2000 + of them like moniker does
