    Great names as usual…

The to be determined variable is the reserves on the names.

Everyone knows there is a slowdown in PPC. Are domain investors going to buy these names for top dollar to sit on and maybe develop, maybe PPC recovers, maybe an end user comes with an offer?

Some of these names have been in previous auctions and did not sell. I do not believe for one second that the serious investor just “missed” the opportunity at these other auctions.

These reserves on the names are TOO HIGH and in order for this not to be another PASS auction Moniker needs to get domain sellers expectations and reserves inline with REALITY.

Another interesting thing is Frank Schilling has listed movierentals.com…that name is a 1st time listing and should be interesting.

    phoneaccesories.com

is a typo … someone at Moniker should double check this

I have several names listed at no reserve that were accepted:

    cleaning.com (includes website)
    ancientart.com
    clinicalpsychology.com
    petkennel.com
    commonstock.com
    selfmotivation.com
    freeteenchatrooms.com

It’s a bit more risky to list your names at no reserve but I believe the potential reward is greater than setting a very low reserve. I guess we’ll find out.

I will drop Monte a note.

    Steven

Some of the domains are high but there are plenty of good names with low reserve, just look at Mike’s comment

  6. MHB says

    Mike

Nice names at no reserve. Hopefully many of them make the live list.

I have seen no reserve names go into the 25-50K+ range many times, while people setting there reserve at $25K-50K wind up with a pass.

Keep in touch and lets us know how you do.

I agree about the importance of realistic reserves. The following music names will be auctioned off with zero reserve:

    Sax.com
    Trumpet.com
    Clarinet.com
MusicStudio.com (with developed site which will be up in a few days)

I think this will be a great auction. It is my hope that these zero reserve submissions will start a new trend in the domain auction industry.

  8. David says

    September 8, 2008 at 5:54 pm

Can someone with some experience say about what portion of that tentative list actually makes it to auction, and then what portion of them get sold? Just curious.

  9. David says

    September 8, 2008 at 6:05 pm

The reason I ask is b/c there’s names like “sharpteeth.com” listed with reserve of $100,001-$250,000. Is it just me who thinks that’s an unrealistic expectation?

  10. MS says

    September 8, 2008 at 6:09 pm

    5% sell. Of 2500 names – 125 will sell.

  11. Damir says

    September 8, 2008 at 6:25 pm

There are some nice domain names listed there – let’s see which one will sell for how mush $$$$$

  12. MHB says

    September 8, 2008 at 6:43 pm

    David

About 250 of the 2100 names will make the live auction.

  13. Kevin says

    September 8, 2008 at 7:17 pm

    Mike
You are taking alot of risks with cleaning.com, but am sure its likely to make it to the live auction. Great name with loads of potential.

  14. MHB says

    September 8, 2008 at 7:28 pm

    Kevin

If you get the smartest and well off domainers in a room and put cleaning up for sale at no reserve don’t you think the room will set the fair market price?

  15. don says

    September 8, 2008 at 7:36 pm

Cant say that I am very pleased after reviewing the list, I think their automated system and communciation sucks and I am glad to see some new competition. I submitted:

    LowRateMortgage.com
    MichiganHouses.com
    RefinanceGuide.com
    JumboLoanGuide.com
    RealEstateMogul.com
    FinancingHouses.com
    MarketingHouses.com
    NeighborhoodHomeLoans.com

none of which made the auction list, so I am quite pissed with their system

  16. Kevin says

    September 8, 2008 at 7:36 pm

    MHB,

That’s one way of looking at it. There is fair market price and then there is highest possible price. The live auction will have some of the biggest spenders in the industry, but at the same time, they may not be the perfect target market for such a wonderful domain name, where development is concerned.

  17. MHB says

    September 8, 2008 at 8:05 pm

    Don

what reserve did you have on MichiganHouses.com for example?

  18. steven says

    September 8, 2008 at 8:12 pm

Glad to see no reserve auctions…

    Auction will be exciting

Best of luck to all buyers and sellers

Now I know why I kept hearing a noise that sounded a lot like “Hmmmmmm” – echoing in the ethers of cyberspace. 😉

    “Sax.com? No reserve? Hmmmm . . . “

I think some of the .tv names are very interesting. Especially Democrat.tv and Republican.tv with all the millions being spent on TV commercials and the elections being around the corner. (Full disclosure: I own those 🙂

Some of my domains listed are
    BuyLuxuryVillas.com
    TarotCardGames.com

  22. don says

    September 9, 2008 at 6:41 am

    mhb – 3500

    5 names under 1k

they stiffed me at the geo auction as well, the worst part is they dont even acknowledge making a mistake and I waited 2 months to find out none of my names would be in the auction, like I said, glad there are some new auction alternatives

our MrTV.com may be there-among in ‘the list

    although …. MrTV’s not come out with n’o-reserve ,
    but …..
MrTV ‘does with the reserve of only U$D 822 approximatly

    some backsground : :::::
    : :
    .1. traffics : : 3xx – 1xxx monthly
    .2. earning : : EURO 3.xx – almost EURO 20.xx monthly
    ^

    |
all stats ‘r for these 12 months ,
all stats ‘r released by Sedo

we have seriously considerred to offer MrTV with n’o-reserve ,
    but ,
    since …. we’r securing some real traffics + $$ from it ,
    so ,
    we thought : :::::
if ……… we offer MrTV with n’o-reserve ,
then …. we would b suspected as having stolen MrTV from others
    …..

MHB – I followed up with them so you may be right

I also realize sorting through hundreds of thousands of entries is not an easy task.

    Looking forward to the auctions

Interested to see that Frank Schilling is auctioning off MovieRentals.com. I remember he paid $100K for that name on Snapnames.com a few years back.
