TDNAM is auctioning off the domain GoodTube.com
Of course with the success of youtube.com we knew this domain would get some bidding.
TDNAM says the domain generates 1910 monthly visitors.
The auction has 5 1/2 hours left as of publication and the high bid is $3,755
Sahar Sarid says
Bidding/price is due to traffic, it is a similar domain to GodTube, a highly successful and busy site.

Of course, subject to risk that YoueTube will assert trademark claims. While there is not usual similarity in the ‘full domain name’, there would be no questions that revenue is directly tied to YouTube’s trademark. The irony is that these type of cases probably fair better for trademark holders under the UDRP than they would in court. There would be some non-infringing uses for the domain, but parking it creates some risk of an adverse transfer order.

Anyone who buys a domain name because it is similar to or reminds people of another domain name is playing with fire.

A few comments…
1) I’m always a bit surprised how much money is still spent chasing domains like this even with all the blogging by Rick, Frank, etc to focus on getting good, generic domains. I understand buying a domain for it’s residual traffic, but for $10K, a person can get a very good, generic name like reservationsonline.com and celluliteremoval.com.
2) Compared to this, I feel like I got steals with blockade.org and predestine.com for $174 and $200 respectively both this past week…
