From CNN

With crude oil prices at $118 a barrel, (hitting $119.90 on tuesday), the question now is not if gas will hit $4 a gallon, but when will it hit $5.

The Fed must share blame for the spike in all commodity prices, since cutting its key federal funds rate to 2.25% from 5.25% starting back in September 2007. At that time Oil was trading at $70 a barrel.

Each fed fund rate cut weakens the dollar.

Oil trading is quoted in dollars.

The Fed meets next week to decide whether to cut rates again.
Soon we may have to decide, should we spend $7 to register a domain or buy a gallon of gas.

One more reason to run an online business or two…With the cost of jet fuel rising, trade shows and conferences are going to look very, very expensive.
The shipping costs for your tradeshow booth and merchandise can be enormous and then add the cost of sending your key people. Another great reason to invest in your online presence.
There is a ton of business that used to be conducted in person that is now being done in a virtual setting. This environment is rich in terms of opportunity for domainers, web developers, seo strategists, affiliates and the list goes on…
This is one of those opportunities in time that you can look at the price of gas and be glad that you are in a business that you can work from anywhere you can get connected.
We are in the right place, at the right time.

When Bush came into office the price of a barrel of crude oil was under $20 a barrel.

    David

This is what happens when you elect oil people to be President and VP.

Maybe you should run to help all us domainers.

LOL Believe me, if politics in this country hadn’t evolved into something so horrific, I’d consider it.
I love it when people refer to our founding fathers in saintly terms. Our founding fathers were incredible individuals, but (with the exception of Washington) none of them would stand a snowball’s chance in hell of getting elected today. Benjamin Franklin was a literary and scientific genius, and there would be no USA without him. On the other hand, he founded the Hellfire Club (think Plato’s Retreat) and had over 20 illegitimate children. Today’s press would rip him to pieces.

When people are voting for a president they look for these important qualities:

    1. Who would be more fun to have a beer with.

    2. Who would stop on the road if your car was broken down to help change your tire.

    3. Will the person be up at 3am to answer the phone.

    4. How much money did they raise.

    5. Who looks presidential?

No your Ben Franklin would get laughed out of town with his funny looking glasses.

Way too smart, bad hair, probably can’t bowl worth a dam.

    Funny Dresser too.

Ben would get laughed out of town

I choose domain registration. Seriously… ask my friends.

    “Wanna go out for dinner?”
    “No”
    “Why not?”
“I can get a domain for $7, why would I want dinner?”

    Real life scenario. 🙂

What a post wooow, and the response by David is even more spot on.

Sammy Ashouri also makes a good point with Dinner VS Domain Name.

    You people are COOL

David, I will vote for you mate if you run for Pres!

Even if I do live in Oz.

Thats as far as I go on the US politics talk as I could get myself into trouble 😉

I would also rather register a domain for $7, at least it may be able to pay for a few meals in the future. LOL

    Regards

Yea … and another reason so may vote for who they do … is ’cause they promise them (us) the most benefits … even if all we’re doing is putting the additional trillions on the backs of our kids, their kids, and their kids …

Think our future citizens will ever forgive us for what we’ve done to them?
