DealFrenzy.com Site Sold Before It Even Launched For $700K

June 10, 2011 by Michael Berkens

According to a press release, a public company called Intertainment Media Inc. (OTCQX:ITMTF) announced that it just purchased a site DealFrenzy.com for $700,00o although the site hasn’t officially launched.

Here’s the deal:

“The acquisition combines cash and Intertainment Media common stock with $500,000 in cash and $200,000 in Intertainment common stock at $1 CDN per common share ”

“DealFrenzy.com is scheduled to go live in early July 2011.”

“DealFrenzy.com will launch in select cities in 2011 and plans international, multi-language expansion based on Intertainment’s Ortsbo experiential language platform.”

“We are very excited to be integrating with Intertainment Media,” said Alon Amouyal, President of DealFrenzy.com

“Intertainment has the expertise, resources and unique differentiators, like Ortsbo, KNCTR and Ad Taffy that will allow DealFrenzy to quickly increase its presence to the market, create unique cultural offers and significantly enhance revenue opportunities.”

DealFrenzy’s next generation Groupon-like model will employ the social media tools of VoIP communications and real time multiple language technology developed by Intertainment. Integrating its client communications systems with Intertainment’s Ortsbo, real time experiential translation platform, allows offers to be communicated in over 50 languages, bringing a multi-lingual resonance to the group- buying market.”

Yup I don;t understand it either but someone just got $700K richer based on a site that hasn’t even launched yet.

Can anyone say;

They would have been a lot smarter to buy something like iBargainsaver.com for a whole lot less in order to capitalize Both on coupon deals and deals in general because soon long distance will be free to everyone!

Sounds like a typical Over-the-Counter stock deal. Buying assets for inflated prices. There are quite a few stories about other companies who did this… and the asset belonged to someone that was part of the acquiring company, big surprise.

I think the momentum is gaining pace on generics, the savings in costs to corporates in advertising will be significant, as well as capital growth in domain names themselves –

That is a dubious decicion at the miniumum..to pay that consideration for such a property.

TLD — Almost spot-on with my sentiments ….could possibly be what you said or a sweetheart deal with an unsisclosed “freind” of the company with back door kick backs involved.

On a related note, “Deal” domains are in fairly strong now-a-days….and I think my recently sold (February) domain DealStar.com is even better and more marketable in commerce… I now think I prolly sold tooooo cheap at $16,500 ……but at least I got it for under $75.00 … but it’s too late now to look back too much…. Onward & Upward !

The Groupon IPO is having an effect. I think an insider selling the company an asset to inflate stock price even for OTC is pretty risky. I think they might have some IP or talent that makes the deal logical. Stock manipulation for something like this just seems so stupid.

Must be some kind of fishy behind the close doors…buying from someone related to family member…or reduce income tax with claim tax deduction as company expense purposes…just a thought…

From what I’ve read on the net, the deal involved high profile national and multi-national brands, IP, experienced team and support system etc. There much be pieces that we don’t have much exposure to that must have made sense for the acquiring party

    LOL…how the wind blows..

If the domain was a single keyword or a better name, you’d be saying “Whoo – the power of a direct match name”

Or proof that a ‘great’ name doesn’t matter that much at all

For the record, they must have paid less than $2000 for the name dealfrenzy.com
Back in Oct 2010 (before they acquired DealFrenzy.com), Alon Amouyal’s top offer for a domain of mine was $2000.
Given that this was their preferred choice over dealfrenzy.com (their next choice which was acquired later), doubt whhether it would have been for more.

ps. DealFrenzy is better than Dealstar for marketing. More memorable.
    Dealstar is…bland…

Some publicized sales just do not add up. It’s always been that way. It would be exhaustive to do, but oneday someone is going to backtrack several years and perform a thorough search on $5000 to $50,000 reported sales. There are an astronomical number of them that are hidden behind whois privacy, either don’t resolve or resolve to a parking page, and get close to zero type-ins.

The questions are these: 1. Who are these mysterious ‘buyers’, 2. why are so many hidden behind “privacy”, 3. How could mediocre names sell for large money when much better names are available at the same or less price?

I’ve suspected some phony activity for years. There just is not that much “dumb money” out there to justify the sheer number of questionable high dollar sales. I don’t subscribe to conspiracy theories, but something is occurring … under the radar.

For fun, go to Stockhouse.com and search for the INT bullboard and see all the discussions by investors.

are you people just a total bunch of losers or what? does Alon Amouyal sound remotely related to David Lucatch at all?? do you think this deal was about a domain name or a website? does it occur to anyone that $500K was for the goodwill (the shares are just paper)… in case you don’t quite get what goodwill is, it means the customers and the partnerships that come with the deal… these are big names… and the other thing is that this looks to be the first coupon site that will truely become international as you have to face the world in all languages and so far only one company on the planet is equipped to do that… and that is Intertainment… no one else has the ability to integrate real time translation

goodwill is certainly irrelevant to a business, but it is extraordinary difficult to put a number on. if the appeal of your balance sheet relies primarily on the value of goodwill, what does that say? it says you lack significant value in more measurable terms.

but who needs that? these is [insert name here].

who wants to see financials? boring. who needs revenues? we’ve got goodwill. millions of anonymous users! we can’t show you the logs, but trust us.

after all, this is [insert name here].

    who?

know all the facts? not even close.

Make sure you do your DD and then make up your own mind if it’s a good deal, I’m not bashing letting you know my experience.

210Shields Ct Markham is the address of both Yogen Fruz and Yogurty’s. Myunderstanding that they are branches of the same company with Yogenbeing the parent of the two. 210 Shields Ct Markham is also the addressof Dealfrenzy. My understanding is the guy who owns Dealfrenzy rentsan office off Yogen Fruz.. When I got to DealFrenzy I was shocked tosee the sign for Yogen Fruz. I then got out my car asked an employeewhere I could find DealFrenzy, she was not really sure but directed meto the reception area of Yogen Fruz. I then asked the receptionistwhere I had to go to get to DealFrenzy, she was shocked and asked mewhere did I hear about them I was the first person to ever go thereasking about them. I explained I was a SH and the company I invested inbought them. She then made a call because she really did not have anyinfo for me. After she got off the phone she told me it was owned by aguy named Arlon ( if I recall correctly) who rents a office space fromthem. I then asked if I could speak with him, she told me he was not inthe office. No problem because I remembered from the news release itsaid he had experience sales/staff, may I speak to one of his experiencesales/staff then please? I was told that he had none and he willsometimes borrow staff from them when he needs a hand.

The reasonI went and checked this company out is because I’m an investor and Ihave family/friends who have also invested and I did not like the soundof this deal. I do not understand how a company is worth 700k that wasunable to get itself launched. Plus their Facebook page did not lookright to me either they joined Facebook Dec/2010 and had about sixposts, just look really odd to me. It just did not sound right to me,after going there I had more concerns with the things I found out. Iasked questions about this deal on the facebook page of INT, DealFrenzyand Ortsbo and I was kicked out of the groups being called a basher andmaking rude comments. This upset me even more seeing I’m a shareholderwith questions. I still have shares in this company, but honestly donot know how long that will last, I was a big fan of this company untiltoday. This is just my opinion from the things I was told from the girlat reception ( that’s why I asked questions hoping they couldstraighten out my worries), but if you are an investor please do yourDD. I’m not telling you what to do, but if you do not believe take adrive down there. IMHO GLTA

    Hi,

Crazy or not… This “Deal Craze” is almost becoming the social networks craze…of 2011.

    “Its the economy stupid”

Well thought out “Deal Sites” should do very well, as your average “Twitter & Facebook” user will be very happy to recommend this type of site to their friends… They can almost have an ‘instant built in viral’ effect… if they produce quality deals…and service.

This is something to think about also, Stores are starting to go back to something, that was very, very common from at least from the 1950’s to maybe the early 70’s and that is…” Layaway plans” and I think this tread will continue, as our economy is not going to get better for years…IMHO

    Peace!
    Dan

BTW: @ scorpion jonny ….Nice way to start off your “anonymous post” and posting in the comments area of one of the smartest and successful domain and business owners on the internet.

You can make your ‘point’ without the personal attack…to everyone that has made a comment in this thread. If myself or anyone here, does nor rise to your high ‘Intellectual knowledge’…it may be a waste of your time commenting here…IMHO…as always.

@ Bulls “DealCrazy .com” would be a GREAT domain to own right now btw… 😉
