Will Today’s SnapNames.com Showcase Auction Today Be The 2nd In A Row Without A Bid?

2011 May 17
by Michael H. Berkens

Last week we wrote about a SnapNames.com Shwocase auction that was about to end without a bid on any domain name.

That auction did in fact seem to end without a bid placed on any domain name.

Today another such auction is ending, and as of the time of publication once again not a domain in the auction has a bid.

This themed auction is called the Premium Keyword Domain Auction and all the domain names seem to be owned by one party, NOKTA INTERNET TECHNOLOGIES.

The auction ends today at 3:15pm EST.

Some day they’ll bring the reserves down to sane levels… I wonder how many failed auctions it’ll take though.

It would be better to run no auction then have auctions that attract not one bid. Kinda makes them look amateurish.

Ridiculous reserves on many of these names. You might expect this from a newcomer to the industry, but from SnapNames?

    Hi,

I can count maybe 10 in that list that have reasonable reserves. ApplyJobs.com for $22000? That’s a bit of an awkward term to have a $22G reserve. These auctions are such a waste of time for both the consumer and Snapnames. There might be a bit of objectivity needed amongst the ranks.

many of those names i wouldn’t hand reg for ten dollars. sheesh.

The reason is the prices are too high. I sell a premium .Com domain at least once or so per week because I am not trying to hit the ball out the park for each domain.

Maybe high prices work well in a great economy but the current economy is just now beginning to climb so it too soon for High prices.

The average price for a great premium domain name should be in the $1,800 to $5,000 range unless it is super good like DownloadStamps.com or iCloudSearch.com

Prices are too high for domainers.

Too many mediocre .com domains. They need premium quality names in other extensions.

    I agree 100% with Todaro.
