IP Lawyer: “A Domainer Is Someone Who Registers Zillions Of Domains”

In an article written by John B. Farmer an IP attorney in the Richmond Times Dispatch defines Domainers as:

“A domainer is someone who registers zillions of domain names to put up automated pay-per-click websites.”

“These folks deal in high volumes of domain names and big money. They demand premium prices. They usually mask their identities with domain name proxy registration services.”

Really a Zillion domains to make a domainer?

Obviously Mr .Farmer doesn’t consider anyone with less than a ton of domains a domainer.

I wonder how many pieces of property one would have to own to be considered a real estate investor by Mr. Farmer?

Further describing domainers Mr. Farmer says:

“These folks deal in high volumes of domain names and big money. They demand premium prices. They usually mask their identities with domain name proxy registration services.”

Of course it only takes on a few domains to make someone a domainer and as a domainer who has operated for some 12 years and never used a proxy service or privacy on its registration, Mr. Farmer you need to revise your definition of a domainer.

What does Mr. Farmer recommend for anyone trying to buy a domain from a domainer?

“In that situation, use an online acquisition service. Major U.S.-based domain name registrars, such as GoDaddy.com, Network Solutions and Register.com, provide registered domain name acquisition services.”

Nothing against Netsol, Godaddy.com and Register.com I will sell less than 5 domains out of 150-200 I sell in any particular year and sometimes none.

So that is just plan bad advice.

99% of the “offers I get” from the NetSol Certified Buyers Service average less than $500 and therefore 99% of these “offers” are never responded to.

Hey here is an idea what not tell readers to shop in market places that Sedo, Afternic.com and Aftermarket to find a domain they want.  May Be Farmer should have told people in his article how to do a whois search to find a direct contact for the owner in the case of that “rare exception” where the domain owner actually lists his contact info, like we do.

Anyone think Mr. Farmer has an unbiased opinion against domain holders?
