Demand Media Withdraws 1st New gTLD Application: .Bar

Demand Media, Inc. (DMD) withdrew its first new gTLD application,  .Bar. The application had a prioritization  number of 1,689. New gTLD Program Committee Tells ICANN Not To Contract With Apps For Strings With GAC Safeguard Advice

In a resolution tonight, the New gTLD Program Committee (NGPC) told ICANN to "defer moving forward with the contracting process for applicants who have applied for TLD strings listed in the GAC's Category 1 Safeguard Advice, pending a dialogue with the GAC". 98 new gTLD's passed ICANN initial evaluation (IE) today. Highlighting this week was Google's application for .App and the brand applications for .Jaguar; .Yahoo; .
