At the end of March we asked, What percentage of domain investors do you think are profitable? This post followed a poll on Namepros that seemed to show a greater percentage of profitable domain investors than most probably thought. The results of our poll showed that 39% of voters went with only 10% in the black. Another 20 voters were at the 20% level. 10% 39% 59 … [Read more...]
The continuing saga of CQD.com
A couple weeks ago I wrote a piece about the CQD.com ordeal, a post that has become one of the all time forum reads. Since then the thread has really heated up with a lot more evidence coming out and a lot of detective work provided by some members such as TheLegendaryJp, Grilled, Silentptnr, etc... The gist of the story is that James Booth paid $25,000 plus escrow for CQD.com, the domain … [Read more...]
Milo Yiannopoulos is moving on from Hatred.com
The domain Hatred.com famously sold to Milo Yiannopoulos for $150,000 last year, it seems Milo never updated the whois so it made it look like Richard Dynas was still the owner. Richard expressed his frustration that Milo never changed the whois, which as we all know happens with some end users. Seems like Milo has changed course and will not be using Hatred.com but rather expressed interest in … [Read more...]
What percentage of domain investors do you think are profitable?

I have had conversations with people who expressed their opinion that 80% plus were losing money over the long haul. A poll at Namepros which had 177 votes, went against those opinions with the majority of voters claiming to be profitable over … [Read more...]
Amidst death threats and people showing up at his door, Eric Lyon is moving to new role
Years ago a long time domainer expressed to me that I was a fool, he had no idea why I was a moderator at Namepros, especially working for free. I said well it's good to give back and help other people in the industry, though it can be a pain in the butt from time to time. He told me he would never even post on Namepros as it was not worth his time, so moderating was a foreign concept. I … [Read more...]
Somehow someone accidentally purchased a domain for $8,000 and they don’t want it
Another interesting thread popped up on Namepros yesterday. A new member basically posted that they bought a domain for $8,000 by accident. They don't want the name, they would like Sedo to stop threatening legal action as they don't even $5. On sedo.com a domain was mistakenly purchased by me but I don't want that domain, and I have mailed them about this problem but they are sending me mails to … [Read more...]
The forum post you must read to believe
If you are into domaining and perhaps you also like a good Aaron Sorkin movie like "A Few Good Men" or "The Social Network" then you need to spend some time, and it will take a bit of time, to read the story of CQD.com on Namepros. Everything is encompassed in this story, from forum trolls taking pleasure in a well known broker getting scammed, to Network Solutions being Network Solutions and … [Read more...]
