After backing out some bids 6666666.com closes at $71,000

October 1, 2018 by Raymond Hackney

After backing out 35 bids and removing 3 bidders, the auction closed at $71,000 as a new bidder came in at the end and bid $71,000. Joe Styler replied to me on Namepros earlier about walking back some bids. We verify all bids especially high value ones. There's two bad bidders on this auction. The bidders were banned from bidding again and other more secure steps were also taken but the bids … [Read more...]

6666666.com now up to $99,999, will it get paid?

October 1, 2018 by Raymond Hackney

Last week I wrote about 6666666.com (7x) at GoDaddy. 6666666.com is off to the races.  It was up to $78,777 after 2 days. While that price seemed outrageous the auction has gone higher and now sits at $99,999 and closes today. GoDaddy educated everyone on the Dispute.com auction how fast payment needs to be made. This is the best case scenario closing on a Monday, so do you think this … [Read more...]

The bidding war for 6666666.com

September 23, 2018 by Raymond Hackney

Well it looks like another wild auction taking place on GoDaddy. 6666666.com is off to the races. That's seven 6's and the bidding after two days is up to $78,777. Now who knows if GoDaddy will come in and adjust bids like they did with 636.cc. Either way this should be one to watch. The domain was registered in 2002, held by BWI Domains out of the Caymans, the domain eventually landed in … [Read more...]

636.cc comes back down to earth as GoDaddy wipes out some bids

September 19, 2018 by Raymond Hackney

A few days ago I posted about 636.cc hitting the auction block and immediately taking off to $30,000. Well it looks like GoDaddy went in and wiped out a lot of bids from 9/15 and the price was back down to $1,175. The name is now up to $5,100 with a couple big bids. Hopefully there are no games the second time around. You can see the bidding from the first group of bids … [Read more...]

The 420 Times allowed it's domain to expire and it closed at $10,500 on GoDaddy auctions on Tuesday. No waiting til the end of this auction

September 16, 2018 by Raymond Hackney

Usually the action gets hot toward the end of an auction, most don't want to show their hand early. That's not the case for 636.cc which hit GoDaddy auctions last night. The name is already at $30,000. Bid Date Bid Expires Bidder Bid Amount 2018/09/15 06:31 PM (PDT) 2018/09/26 11:29 AM (PDT) Bidder 9 $30 000 Comment: 2018/09/15 06:33 PM … [Read more...]

What changes would you make to improve auction houses?

August 30, 2018 by Raymond Hackney

So with all the anger and disappointment in the auction houses, as evidenced by polls and comments on TheDomains and Namepros, what changes would you like to see implemented? Some domain investors might be past the point of no return, but for those who believe things can be improved, where do we start? GoDaddy stands out as the only auction house of the big 4 to not have bidder handles, and … [Read more...]
