Verisign released their Domain Name Industry Brief (DNIB) for Q3 2024.
The third quarter of 2024 closed with 362.3 million domain name registrations across all top-level domains (TLDs), a decrease of 0.1 million domain name registrations, or less than 0.05%, compared to the second quarter of 2024. Domain name registrations increased by 3.0 million, or 0.8%, year over year.
The .com and .net TLDs had a combined total of 169.6 million domain name registrations in the domain name base at the end of the third quarter of 2024, a decrease of 1.1 million domain name registrations, or 0.6%, compared to the second quarter of 2024.
The .com and .net TLDs had a combined decrease of 4.4 million domain name registrations, or 2.5%, year over year.
