Over 30 First Name .me domains got scooped up in June – Let’s take a look

July 6, 2020 by Raymond Hackney

First Name .me

I have always thought that one of the best applications for using the .me was as a personal brand with your first name .me.

In June several first names expired and now we are starting to see where they are ending up. Kate.me sold for $450 and Kate Buckley won that auction. Kate is using the name to redirect to her Linkedin page.

Rick Schwartz does own Rick.me and redirects it to DomainKing.com.

The highest selling first names in .me would be Art.me (though I believe it was purchased for the other meaning of Art.) that sold for $10,000 and it does not resolve.

James.me sold for $4,911 in 2010 and is used to point to the personal page of James Schramko.

David.me sold twice, first in 2009 it sold for $1,211 and then in 2011 for $4,200. The domain name forwards to the Linkedin page of David Wieland, Managing Partner at Motivate Venture Capital

Mike.me sold for $4,000 in April 2020. The name does not resolve. Michael Berkens owned Mike.me and it was acquired by GoDaddy in the portfolio sale.

Tim.me sold for $3,500 in 2012. Points to a personal blog with no posts currently.

Teddy.me sold for $3,500 in 2016. Does not propagate currently.

I like the first name+.blog domains
    Exacting meaning, personalized.
    Wordpress.org owned.
    Only 200k registered.

Almost every day I build websites on non .com (writing some unique content is challenging). I usually let the sites sit for 1 year, and check analytics stats.

I did this for dozens of new TLDs. Most recently, I started havens.blog. I have other first name .blogs to track too.

I like to know the CTR for certain types of domains (more specifically, extensions) when avg ppl see them in SERPS. Also, I like to know conversion rates for some affiliate things (trust signals).

Since doing this for a few years, I’m confident to say: people tend to click non-coms. Good luck!

If those names were put into use, the public could have identified with (dot)me as an extension for personal use. Neither happened.

Even (dot)com has a usage issue but it’s really the only game in town for future-growth profitability for development.

I bought solotraveler.me three years ago to showcase travellog, but didn’t really get a chance. Didn’t list it anywhere for sale, but sometimes think will let it go, if I get a better deal.

Bit confused, if I should sell it or keep it, since I do a lot of solo traveling.

You probably wasted your money and continue to do so every year by renewing it. “Traveller“ is the correct spelling.

I own Airline.me and Airlines.me since 2012, i thought initially i could use it as Airline blog site or
for Airline directory in the Middle East, trying to coin the .ME to MIDDLE EAST. I later found out the
person i was to partner with for this project in Turkey was not reliable which made me
backoff from the partnership. so in my own opinion the .ME can also be used for business and other
activities and not only for personal.

Hoping to get good offer for the domains someday since i can no longer go on with development.
