So this is happening, AmazonCars.xyz at $33,510

October 4, 2018 by Raymond Hackney

I have had a bunch of emails over the last week as to why this auction has not been cancelled? Some believe it’s bogus and others are focusing on the TM aspect of Amazon.

When discussing the last crazy auction for 6666666.com on Namepros Joe Styler said:

First these kinds of bids are rare as we have a bidder verification process and manual and automated checks. In the few cases that something slips through and we need to take manual action, most of the time you are held to your bid. We actively watch and ban people in real time so very quickly after you made your bid. This auction was an exception so there was a couple days more than usual.

So one would wonder did they verify these?

Amazon does own AmazonCars.com.

AmazonCars.xyz currently at $33,510 with only 2 bidders, the auction bidding started at $25,000. So is GoDaddy getting trolled?

    looks cheap.

the solution was discovered by Chinese marketplaces: just have the bidders deposit a percentage of their bid.

but this would lead to many people backing away from auctions, strongly reduce shill bidding to almost 0, fake bids, know-end-price bids, etc. not good to marketplaces, specially when they also are Registrars, and discovered that they can make much more money diverting domains from the expiration cycle or provide an auction platform instead of their core business that should be register domains for their clients.

Exactly the less regulation, and barrier to entry the more the auction houses make.

There is a reason why user names have been held back for over a decade. They know people will ask questions, and it will lead to less revenue.

What other auctions are these bidders bidding up, or playing with that are costing others tens of thousands of dollars. Godaddy better get a handle on this before someone starts a class action lawsuit, and they audit everything.

I had 4 second chance options due to lack of payment by the high bidder in the past 3 months, what does that tell you, people are playing on this platform.

I guess you enjoy paying $1200 annual renewal, don’t think anyone else will.

Volvo Car Amazon model from 60s
    wikipedia .org/wiki/Volvo_Amazon
Amazon TM / conflict of interest doesn’t apply if the name is used for for example: amazoncars .co.uk
