Here we go again, Gay.app sold?

May 24, 2018 by Raymond Hackney

Looks like .App is now getting it’s first “supposed big sale” moment. Let me make clear there is no verification of this sale and it’s being written about more from a what the heck? point of view. If it turns out to be legit we will find out, the organization being mentioned should want to put these rumors to bed if not true.

A twitter account @domain tweeted that Gay.app sold for $1million. The buyer Blued.com Blued is the world’s most popular gay social app, with 27 million users worldwide. Free to download for Android and iOS now!

Breaking news for .app domain. https://t.co/zmqPJKf1rb was acquired by https://t.co/Nx3yKLGn1N @blued, a leading gay social network for USD1,000,000. Transfer already completed. wow, https://t.co/zmqPJKf1rb will be top10 domain deals of 2018.

I will note the @domain Twitter handle is out of China and so is Blued, that does not prove anything, I am just adding it to look at the whole picture.

Tip of the cap to MediaBranding

Disclaimer for those new to domains, don’t ever register a domain name based on someone else’s real or fake domain sale.

(I own 0 .app domain names)

Seems crazy Paul as they referenced a legit site, hopefully they come out with a statement, I am sending them an email now.

    Btw:

-escrow documentation is dodgey, doesn’t seem to show any payment being made
-Be very wary of any new tld “news” with 101domain involved in it.

I noticed the registrant is in California, USA. Not in China. My guess is that Gay.com bought Gay.app.
We will probably never know the truth though.

Surprised you didn’t buy any .app domains, Ray.
I bought a handful of .app domains.

I was mentioning the Twitter handle is based in China. So maybe they are hearing something? Not sure.

I wasn’t paying premiums for .app domains I saw nothing that interested me.

Only 2 of my .app domains have premiums and they are not very much. One is low $$$ and the other is mid $$.

That is huge renewals, not going to be fun paying 10 years from now.

The domain name redirects to blued.com. I would like to believe this is a real sale but was NDA and got out.

They certainly have the funding to buy this name for this price if they wanted to . 300 million valuation first round of funding and closed on a 8 figure round not to long ago. They are already profitable.

If the seller was either Rick Schwartz or Mike Mann, I’ll believe it.

Yes. Blued.com closed a 100 million round in February. I believe the sale will be legit. Wow.
    Makes sense. Ebru did not.
& I’ll bet the seller was a seasoned domainer/domain investor.

Keeping fingers crossed for first 7 digit new gTLD sale, if verified 🙂
