Radix’s domains and the Startup League RISE in Hong Kong

July 26, 2017 by Raymond Hackney

The Startup League sponsored 11 startups on Radix TLDs to exhibit at the RISE Conference

24th July 2017, Hong Kong. Startup League, a unique startup-support program by Radix, offered to give 5 free booths to select startups at the RISE Conference in Hong Kong, held from 11th to 13th July. In addition to this, the Startup League offered to give 25% sponsorship the remaining startups who qualified to exhibit at the event.

The program received over 100 applications from interesting startups across the APAC region, and eventually 11 startups were selected for the sponsorship by the Startup League and RISE teams. These startups were also supported with branded merchandise and PR exposure to help amplify their brand presence.

The RISE conference is a celebrated event in Asia and is hosted by the organizers behind Web Summit. The event was host to 580 startups, 400 investors, 565 journalists and 240 speakers, including elite leaders such as John Collision – Co-Founder of Stripe and one of the youngest billionaires in the world today, Joe Tsai – the Executive Chairman at the Alibaba group amongst others. Gary Vaynerchuk, American serial entrepreneur and four-time New York Times bestselling author, was also one of the speakers at this conference.

Speaking about the event, Suman Das from the Startup League said, “RISE was an exciting opportunity for startups to showcase their innovations to investors and media. Our team personally met with over 400 people from across the Asian startup community. We are now looking forward to forging new ties and exploring partnerships in APAC with the vision to support them across other events in this part of the world.”

The Startup League is a program exclusively for startups using any of Radix’s 9 domain extensions. Some of the startups supported at RISE had switched from their original domain to a Radix domain. Examples include mycrop.tech, which moved from mycrop.asia because it wanted to expand beyond Asia and needed to highlight its tech expertise; and sunami.tech, which moved from smssunami.com because it was long, complicated and confusing. Others, such as loop.space and habhub.tech launched on Radix domains right from the start due to the relevance and availability of these domains.

In May this year, the Startup League had supported 15 startups at the Next Web Conference in Amsterdam. The Startup League is now gearing up for events such as Web Summit (Portugal), TechCrunch Disrupt (USA), TechSparks (India) and SLUSH (Finland).

The Startup League was launched by Radix in September 2016 to support startups in getting exposure at key startup events through booth sponsorships and other benefits. Currently, it is a community of 90+ startups, and is supported by 50+ partners from the global startup ecosystem.
