SME.com reported stolen

June 2, 2017 by Raymond Hackney

Namepros member JCC  has reported his domain SME.com registered at Enom has been stolen and moved to Name.com.

My domain name SME.COM registered at enomcentral.com got stolen. The expiration date was 10/23/2017 and today I just checked and found that it has been stolen and moved to 1and1.

What should I do now? Please help ASAP. I have hundred of domain names with enom for over 10 years and never got stolen before.

My suggestions would be: (1) Change your registrar password and maybe even email to secure your other domains; and (2) Report the crime to registrar enomcentral.com if you haven’t already done so. To my understanding, a registrar needs verification to transfer a domain so they may have this domain’s history pointing to someone other than yourself on who, when and where this transfer took place.

Why is it always ENOM, what is the loophole?

In confused – did it end up at name.com or 1&1??? Those are 2 VERY different companies, the former being pleasant to deal with and the latter being a known ruthless extortionist (simply Google “1&1 domains scam” and you will see what I mean) – just don’t want “name”s name being wrongfully sullied, and no I’m not an affiliate or in any way tied to them lol

Seems to me that someone thinking Name.com was a good place to move it to is like asking a policeman to hold your bag of money for the bank job you just pulled while you wait for your getaway car.

And that’s a really nice domain.

I’ve had no issues with name.com; why are you disparaging their reputation here?

Oh, I see what you did there. Your comment was so choppy that it took a minute to get your drift.

Yes, Name.com seems like a company that believes in some principles to me. They are certainly in my “basket of commendables” among the options out there, and it’s not a large basket.
