All these people are in it for profit.

I thank Rosner for his lowball offers.

I thank sherpa for Adam Dicker’s rise to fame, and fail

I thank Namejet for 2.5% CC surcharges, even though illegal in many states

BrandBucket 30% commission, along with Michael Krell Spam, NO THANKS!

Dropcatchers are no angels, ALL OF THEM

Godaddy/Afternic are 1? along with Escrow I would say are the go to, Sedo is great for fast transactions, and quick payments, as they take over the transfer portion, and pay on your push!

DomainBoredRoom defines everything wrong with domaining, closed off eliteist

I tried to be honest, and not sugarcoat anything for anyone, or play favs, so do your own DD!

“DomainBoredRoom defines everything wrong with domaining, closed off eliteist”

That is the tumor of the industry. Most of the problems are caused by that tumor. So in that respect I am most thankful for those that disavow the secret society of domaining that inflicts harm, intended or unintended…..

I am most thankful for people that disavow you domain Shane,Adam strong etc… Having to read your comments is enough to stop reading blogs.

You could never make it into DBR thats the fact.

Ah the conspiracy theorists. Mommie there is a private domain forum and I can’t get in, wah wah wah.

I don’t understand mommie, I mean we all should get included just like when I sucked at sports but still got a trophy.

Who wants to talk about cat hairballs in DBR seriously.

Nobody cares, everything flows, maybe back 10-15 years ago, scripts, and methods were much more secret as nobody had a clue.

Now there are 20 different companies, running 100 different ways, don’t be fooled by this so called social knitting club, you ain’t missing anything really.

There is not much of a secret sauce other than discipline, and a fat bank roll.

There are 1000 guys from India, and China scanning every drop for just a crumb, not much gets by anymore. Not sure what DBR has done for the domaining industry overall, other than keeping secrets, and conspiracies alive. Who knows what they may intend conspire to do in regards to bidding, and auctions, only people that have something to hide keep secrets.

Of course they are in it for profit, it’s a fucking business.

          November 24, 2016 at 4:54 pm

Most of those companies would not like being associated with the adult industry as you mention. Especially Godaddy….

          November 24, 2016 at 5:18 pm

So why should we be thanking them, Usually companies thank their customers, not the customers thanking them?

        Funny this came up.
I was going to say Domain Boardroom is what I’m thankful for.
Nothing elite about it. If your not there you wouldn’t know that so I forgive you for being ignorant.

Domain boardroom people are among my best friends and I’ve only met a small percentage of them.
I’ve barely done any actual business there yet it’s my go to place to vent, cry and talk. Not domains but life’s challenges too.

Thank you Donna and all dbr members…you are truly among my best friends.

Yes, DBR gets my vote!! I have learned more there from that community than anywhere else, since I registered my first domain in 1993.

TheDomains would be a close 2nd choice for me.

Ha Ha Ha, Not chopped liver, but a great participant who shares his insights, and opinions freely, and most importantly tells it like it is, even when in hurts. (i.e. NO BS (This is PRICELESS)).

To Raymond, I think this post more than a survey with a limited amount of options, should have been a post requesting comments. In a Survey the list of options would have to be enormous to include all companies and or people who contribute positively to domaining at large.

I for one am grateful to DNjournal.com, Domaining.com, TheDomains.com, Onlinedomain.com and others for what they do.

        • Raymond Hackney says

          November 24, 2016 at 11:07 am

That’s what the comment section is for to add to those not on the list. The question was not every company you are thankful for, but which one you were most thankful for ?

            November 24, 2016 at 11:12 am

My “Most thankful for” choice was not in the list. That is my point. From the comments I see there are many others which are not in the list.

The poll says most, I would think it would be a site you use to make money not a publication or an aggregator. For me easy choice Godaddy with no one else even close. Great pricing and godaddy auctions.

    • Frank says

      November 24, 2016 at 11:17 am

I would concur, if domaining.com is the thing you are most thankful for, you probably work for them. It’s an aggregator, the content is available on it’s own. or another aggregator like namebee.

      • Raymond Hackney says

        November 24, 2016 at 11:19 am

No need to knock domaining.com and to be honest I had them on the list, I had edited the poll on the poll site and then overwrote something and it left off the last two entrants I typed domaining.com and namebio. To be fair I erred in the title, it was really supposed to be about companies that help you make money or I should say actually make money with.

I picked name.com since that’s my favorite registrar where I get most of my domain names from but my second pick is namepros.com for all the comradery from all the members.

Well Tech Support at Name.com went to hell in a hand basket, that’s for sure I did buy a long shot gamble on a domain name tonight. Mexican.one …Mexican.com valuates at $5,100,000. I just could not pass it up!

    My list would be :
Mike Cyger – great shows and amazing info and you get to see top people in the industry every now and then.
Andrew Rosener – I don’t anyone who has shared more than Drew over the years.
Raymond Hackney – my morning starts with his daily list.
Mike Berkens – past sales has always been an inspiration.
Mike Mann – just following him on twitter and facebook is enough to know whats going on.
Abdul Basit – openly shares his sales and acquisitions and knows how to get the best prices for his domains.
Domainnamewire – Andrew is a true reporter and gives all the relevant news, and the podcasts are brilliant.

    Thank you all.

    Domain Cost Club (DCC)

We joined several years ago after doing some research that the company was legit. Since transferring our entire portfolio to DCC, we’ve saved so much money. They literally offer domains at cost value. They do charge a 5% admin fee when processing orders, which is the only profit margin they make, after buying into the club.

I find it funny, myself, becuase who cares about polls or Uniregistry cheating? My guess: NOT MANY. It’s not like they stole money https://www.namepros.com/posts/5852338/

My vote is for Dynadot the best registrar and domain company

On a related note, I wasn’t going to say anything either, but Escrow.com appears to have gone quite “psychotic.” Are there other escrow services that people trust and recommend because I’ve almost had it frankly despite so many years of the opposite till now.

    Rick Schwartz.

Ignoring the naysayers for years, Rick was the first one to state — and prove — that great .coms were — and remain — Internet and real world gold.

  27. A Mitchell says

    November 29, 2016 at 12:38 am

Two years ago it would have been Rick Schwartz, who remains the industry’s poster boy. Today Uniregistry has forced everyone to up their game. Two years from now it could be Paul Stahura of Donuts.domains.

The two top vote getters in this poll have one thing in common. Namepros and Uniregistry both block some VPN users from access to their landing pages, which knocks out a lot of buyers from China and India. Anyone who’s not using a VPN is probably a newbie, so barring VPNs is not a trivial matter.

Missing Registrars worth of great consideration because they give the best support in the industry:
    EPIK and UNITED DOMAINS.
