August 22, 2016 by Michael Berkens

The new gTLD .Win has become the 4th new gTLD to break the 1 million domain registration mark.

According to RegistrarStats.com, which also takes into account deleted domains .Win has 1,000,093 domains registered.

The other 3 new gTLD’s that have over 1 million domain names are .Wang (1,064,728); .Top (2,793,356); and .XYZ (6,195,695).

4 of the top 10 gTLD with the most registrations are now new gTLD’s

Of course all these number pale in comparison to .Com which is sitting at 126,799,945 domain names as of today.

.Net (15,569,012) and .Org (10,800,633) have over 10 million registrations.

This came about during the numeric revolution, and the China hype machine.

Unless they are committed to renewals another one will bite the dust.

I’m actually surprised that .Win soared to the top like that so fast. I don’t recall seeing many marketing/advertising campaigns for that extension either. I’d be curious to find out what all the avenues were they chose to promote it on.

I think it is easier to understand than it seems.
It’s simply a ‘psychological effect’ – everyone want’s to win something.
In case of .top this ‘effect’ is the same – just greater – everyone want’s to reach the top.

Your in a daze, I compare this to the trading of pogs, when it was new, and trending everyone wanted in.

When it became sublime, and boring they became garbage.

Oct 2016 the onslaught of the Chinese registrations will start coming into renewal cycles for the most part into January 2017, watch all across the board especially millions of 5L.com so called chips that’s will drop.
