ICM Says After .XXX Matching .Porn Has 7,500 Registrations; .Adult 7K & Sells A $500K .Porn Domain

June 2, 2015 by Michael Berkens

The numbers are now in for the number of .porn and .adult domain names registered during the .XXX matching program

Under the matching .XXX program the owners of a .XXX domain has the right register the matching .porn and .adult domains before general availability.

Including to the ICM registry the operator of .XXX, .Porn and .Adult registries, including domain name registered in Sunrise, .porn now has almost 7,500 registered domain names and .adult has almost 7,000

The actually number of domain names in the zone file are 6,877 for .porn and 6,256 for .adult but according to ICM there are domain registrations than that are not in the zone.

Stuart Lawley the CEO of ICM Registry told thedomains.com that he is “quite happy with the performance to date of .porn and .adult, in particular .adult. “Going in to GA we have already exceeded our combined forecasts for them. What we have learned is that any “special” phase, such as TMCH Sunrise, Sunrise B and Domain Matching are largely ignored by many Registrars including many of the top ones as they are snowed under with launches and simply do not want to invest the time , money or resources to adapt their systems to anything outside the norm.”

According to registrarstats.com, there are over 103,000 .XXX domain names in the zone file (does not include blocks) so at the reported numbers ICM got a conversion rate of around 3% for the .porn and .adult matching program.

Separately, ICM Registry is reporting it sold $600,000 in premium .Porn domain names to an existing customer, in an all cash transaction; $500k of which for a single 3 letter keyword .porn name. The domain names and further details will be revealed when the sites launch.
