1st Day New gTLD Totals: .Paris 6,848 .Moscow 3,404; .Gal 1,140

Three new gTLD’s had their first day of general availability yesterday, where domain names could be registered on a first come, first served basis.

.Paris which only made 10,000 domain names available for registration wound up with 6,848 registrations, including those registration in Sunrise.

.Moscow ended its first day of general availability with 3,404 domain names including those issued in Sunrise.

Finally .Gal ended its first day of general availability with 1,140.

.Gal has nothing to do with women or girls, it is  intended to be used to highlight the Galician, Galician language and Galician culture.

The initiative was backed by more than 13,700 people and 110 institutions in Galicia, including relevant agencies of culture such as the Royal Galician Academy, the Galician Culture Council or the three Galician universities.

Asociación PuntoGal is committed to ICANN to establish a foundation to reinvest the money in projects that promote Galician language and culture in the field of new technologies.
