I have also had to click on notice for a new gTLD that contained the word “cool” and “hot”

I’m sure I will come across a bunch more.

Lets not fool ourselves there is gaming at the trademark level and at the TMCH level.

    Yes,Michael,I received the same email for”gold” when you beat me to the Punch.I also got one that sounded far more reasonable in relation to the word”diamond” for the .company gTLD,that one just was about ensuring that I didn’t try to use it in relation to kitchen cabinets.Your a Lawyer,and you know some go too far in their trademark apps to “protect”the client.But it appears many just want to index a generic word for their own benefit….I think it will get rather messy in the courts soon.

    Same dodgy Benelux deposit “trademarks” as used to plunder the .eu ccTLD. These are not real, genuine trademarks that have been published for opposition and granted by any real process.

    Lots of built in protections for the TM holders ans none for the domain investor side of things. You thibk at least there wouod be a response form to any TMCH notice where you could state for the record your intended use.
