more important is the meek numbers of Interested parties (bidders)
not sure who will see re-sale value in the large majority of those…
    Clubs have Brand Specific names…

    Flipping anyone…?

How much long-term market interest can there really be in something like Snowboarders.club?

Even with all the publicity conferred on this Sedo Winter Sports .CLUB auction, the corresponding .COM domain remained available to register for $9 for 8 hours after the end of the auction event.

Nobody during the previous 2 decades cared enough to maintain this .COM domain, let alone develop it into a website. And throughout the lead up to the auction, nobody was seriously interested enough to pay that $9.

Bidding behavior seems to be the result of publicity and short-term irrational responses. Otherwise, wouldn’t someone have shown interest in SnowboardersClub.com before this?

The same thing applies to other domains in this auction … to other domains in .CLUB … and to other domains in every other new extension.

There’s certainly value for brands to be found in new extensions as with unregistered .COMs. But based on what I’m seeing, I don’t entirely buy the argument that these new extensions needed to be introduced because all the .COMs were taken. Clearly, some of the “Club” domains that the registry thought most worth promoting were not needed to compensate for the lack of a .COM.
