RockLive.com Purchase For $40K: New Social Network Shots Of Me Backed By Beiber To Launch Without Matching Domains

November 4, 2013 by Michael Berkens

According to the Fortune’s Term Sheet,  a “new teen-focused social network called Shots Of Me will launch later this week, under the RockLive brand.”

The company Rock Live bought its domain name RockLive.com from Marchex for $40,000 and was part of the 500 domain name sales Marchex announced back in November 2012.

The social network Shots of Me is making news because its “new lead investor is perhaps the world’s most famous teenager, Justin Bieber.”

“Fortune has learned that Bieber recently led a $1.1 million seed round for the company, whose other investors include venture capitalist Shervin Pishevar, boxer Floyd Mayweather and angel investor Tom McInerney.”

“It not only is Beiber’s first-ever investment in a social network, but also is believed to be the first time he has made a VC investment independent of his manager Scooter Braun.”

According to Term Sheet, RockLive has now raised a total of $2.7 million in seed funding, and is beginning to pitch VC firms on its first institutional funding round.

ShotsofMe.com is currently not resolving and has been owned since 2000 by Poole Productions of Dacula, GA

Shotsof.me was registered last year and is now being forwarded to a photography studio, myeventphotography.com

Just going off the name of the new social network it seems selfies will be involved.

Selfie/Selfies are one of the hot words of 2013, basically means when you take a picture of yourself.

The domain name Selfie.com  seems to have been sold this year.

The domain was listed for sale at Afternic.com back as recently as June of this year, and is now owned under privacy and looks like a site is about to launch on it in the near future,.

Selfies.com was under privacy until October 2013 and is now showing as

Justin will be old next year, when he turns 20. Anyway, just what the Internet needs more of… photos that people take of themselves. Although artists like Van Gogh and Frida Kahlo were doing ‘selfies’ long before it became so mainstream… and easy.
