New gTLD .XYZ Rolls Out Site Out In German

September 25, 2013 by Michael Berkens

Citing a “great response from the German market” the new gTLD .XYZ has launched their site in German as well.

“Our initial outreach has shown Germans are likely to register a .xyz domain name when it becomes available. ”

“We have had a successful outreach effort to generate pre registrations from individuals and businesses in Germany .”

“Additionally German based registrars are all on board and given our previous success in the German market with .com.de we look to have Germany be one of our top markets for .xyz” Dan Negari told thedomains.com

.XYZ is live and accepting expressions of interest in both its English Version site and its German version.

This extension is a mystery to me, X Y Z…uh?

Could someone kindly explain to me what is the thinking behind this critter?

    Is it a German thing?

    derFußlange.xyz

    helga.xyz ?

    the thinking?

i dont know but when i see meaningless TLD’s like .ZYX applied for this early (in the first round of applications) its pretty obvious eventually every word (or kinda words) will be to the right of the dot eventually.

what happens to a TLD when nobody wants it? not sure.. but its going to get a ton cheaper to run these registries then there will be less of a chance of TLD’s going bankrupt left and right.

.XYZ is the latest most generic domain extension on the market. We are positioned to be the default TLD for consumers, businesses, and individuals around the world.

.XYZ is for every website, everywhere.

I invite you to go to xyz.com and learn more about the movement, and even pre-register interest in a .xyz if you are interested.

ontheinterweb – I can assure you that .xyz is very well funded – and will not be going bankrupt – ever. We have a fully sound business plan and business model; and look forward to bringing innovation, competition and choice to internet users around the world.

Daniel thank you for your response…
” We are positioned to be the default TLD for consumers, businesses, and individuals around the world.”

Already positioned? it hasn’t even come out…
Default? as the # 1 choice for “consumers, businesses, and individuals around the world” …
forget the rest… incluidng ‘Dot Com’ ?

The Kool Aid must strong in London…

i dont think they were saying “forget the rest” – but everyone knows .COM is exhausted compared to whats going to be available to the right of the dot.

yes yes yes “.com is inexhaustible”………….. when hundreds of other real word options were not available to register

however, it doesnt make much sense to go for another “default” TLD nowadays (like .net was and is if you cant get the .com)

default is the old way… when there are specific extensions for every category nobody is gonna wanna be default. i understand the thinking but i dont think it will work at all. its as meaningless as “.PW” even though thats an actual country code people dont know that… we’re moving into specific and you guys are going for “default” ??

too wide of a net for today.

    * my credentials are me sitting online in my underwear.

    from webster’s:
    de·fault (d-fôlt)
computers : a setting, option, etc., that a computer uses if you do not choose a different one

    Full Definition of DEFAULT

a : a selection made usually automatically or without active consideration due to lack of a viable alternative
b : a selection automatically used by a computer program in the absence of a choice made by the user

    Interesting…

    Can’t wait for thedomains.xyz …

    Domo

.xyz is launching in early 2014 . So you understand our position – internet users around the world are looking for competition and choice in selecting a domain name in a domain extension that fits their needs. 99% of domain registration requests daily come up as unavailable.

.xyz is the most generic top level domain on the internet. I repeat that it is for every website, everywhere.

As an entrepreneur and founder of .xyz I understand everyone in the world does not have to drink the Kool Aid – however that will not slow me down in my mission to bring a new generic top level domain to the internet; and bring competition and choice to internet users worldwide to secure the domain name that properly suits their needs. Ultimately it is internet users that will decide to use a .xyz domain name. I am here to provide those users with .xyz and .college as additional options in the namespace. It might take 5 years; it might take 10 years; it might take 50 years – Either way – I plan on disrupting the namespace and giving internet users a second chance to acquire the right domain name for them.

Right now internet users think of .com .net .org .edu as the main choices for their domain registration needs. Within the next several years I hope to introduce .xyz into the minds of internet users; and one day soon you will think of .xyz in the same light of .com and .net

Remember .com was launched for commercial institutions, .net was launched for networks, .org was launched for organizations all of these TLD’s were launched with a specific use in mind to provide organization to the internet. However due to lack of competition and choice these TLD’s became the generic choice for everyone. You will find non profits using a .com; you will find commercial organizations using a .org . In the history of the internet there has not been a true generic domain extension like .xyz which has been launched for every website, everywhere – hence our tagline.

    Thank you for your support.

    Daniel,
even that I truly don’t understand your persistent comment of the extension being the ONLY one “true generic”… I wish you the best,
…in regards to the .college extension I feel you will be alright as long as Universities and colleges alike… abandon their long established .edu’s and .com’s or even the country codes for that matter…

I see now why “registry’ service providers and consultants” are salivating over their “well funded” slice of the pie… who cares if the new extensions are a a failure or not.

    1849 all over again.

    Best of luck.

    Sincerely.

I always love the drive through the desert from Las Vegas to LA.

You pass right through the town of Zzyzx, California.
