The domain name CollegeStudent.com which was a dropped domain, sold this week on NameJet.com for $17,700 as three bidders battled it out bidding over $10,000 for the domain.

A very nice educational domain and a good buy.

The domain was owned by a company by the name of  Abode Development which had owned the domain since at least 2001 and now gets nothing for it.

Ouch

A few other sales from this week:

TvMounts.com sold for $3,500

Dezy.com sold for $2,700

Hp.tv sold for $2,600 as did Hm.tv, both new owners better pay close attention to how those domains are used.

Fexy.com sold for $2,065

CCLL.com sold for $1,700

YourBill.com sold for $1,600

Probably need singular and plural to make it work.
CollegeStudents.com is being held by Domain Capital.

I can think of 2 of mine immediately that probably wont work without the other: TaxShelter.com and CivilUnions.com.

HP is the common abbreviation used for HandPhone which is was cell phones are called in Indonesia (4th biggest country). Most people say HP or Mobile instead of “Hand Phone”. It’s in like every commercial etc… Just random knowledge. Hopefully buyer had this in mind.

CollegeStudent.com was owned by Abode Development and was a successful site from 1998 until around 2000 when it merged with CollegeClub.com which ran for a few years and now forwards to the mega domain and site Teen.com which is owned by Alloy Marketing and their various websites get a combined monthly total of over 50 million visits. Alloy was sold in 2010 for 162 million dollars so thats probably why they aren’t to concerned about 18 grand. Its amazing the travels that some domains go through.

This domain has a really rich history. In 1996 four University of Texas students founded CollegeStudent.com and it turned into a fairly successful dot-com during the go-go years. I had a number of friends who worked for the company. They sold it in 1999 to CollegeClub.com.
